Hee, hee, thankfully for Alfred, we're not in Florida, so no alligators in the lake! Whew.... And no badgers around, either! Raccoons and beavers, though......
Now you had me looking through the foliage..... I see why you mentioned this! No idea what that is, but I'm pretty sure it's not a badger!
Actually, further research reveals that badgers are not native to or common in Virginia.

The 'rents brought back cases of German glass ornaments when they lived there in the mid/late 50's. And I do mean cases. Seven or eight of them. After they died, no one could find them. So damn sad... They were just amazing, hand made, most of them, hand blown anyway. Silver, gold, frosted, just amazing...

No. Best I can tell, it's an image of Christmas decorations IMHO already on display waaaay too early. In the US it isn't even Thanksgiving yet! Sheesh!
@shanson27 lives in germany. christmas is kind of big deal there. let people enjoy what makes them happy. sheesh.
OK, fine. I guess I'm just cranky today...... Nonetheless, Christmas is MORE than a month away. Aside from that, there are people on this site who do not celebrate Christmas for whatever reasons. Whatever.....

so no one should ever post a christmas photo because some people don't celebrate? or just because it doesn't fit into your timeline? nobody ever seems to mind a summer beach photo being posted in the middle of january.
just because it doesn't align with your worldview doesn't make it wrong or inappropriate. i don't celebrate hanukkah, but i don't care if people post photos of those celebrations. i welcome seeing images of celebrations and learning about different customs. only americans post fourth of july fireworks photos, should the rest of the world be offended?
i seriously cannot comprehend why you keep insisting on being the arbiter of this thread. photos and photo related discussions are what the potd thread is about. it is not about policing the content of the photos or the messages.

Just wanted to chime in and say you have some of the most detailed holiday photos in this thread, which I suspect is welcomed by many. I live in the ‘great white north’, and we take Christmas pretty serious here (Heck, we even have ‘Christmas in July’ festivities.) So I appreciate what the holidays looks like in your part of the world.

Probably because of mine..... Sorry for expressing my thoughts and opinion in here. I certainly didn't mean that the image should be removed and swapped out! It's just that the commercialization of Christmas has gone way, way OTT in the US and each year it seems to get worse with merchandise and adverts being put out way in advance of the actual holiday season. It's so overdone that all of the fake hoopla is undoubtedly very tiresome long before we even get anywhere near December 25th. Aside from that is the other issue I've already mentioned, so won't repeat myself there.
