given that we are all using a monitor of some sort to view this thread, it is actually somewhat relevant. and this is not the first time we have deviated within a thread. and having been someone who has created a dedicated thread for something not posting-an-image-related, sometimes you get a lot of super weird and unrelated responses (unrelated as in not the answer you were looking for, not necessarily off topic to the thread) which only confuses the issue.

being reprimanded is more off topic than talking about monitors.

Photo of the Day is intended to be a showcase for your best pictures.

From the statement which is published at the begining of each month.....

"Welcome to Photo of the Day. The POTD thread was started by iGary in May, 2006 and converted to a monthly thread in November 2007 by Arn. POTD is one of the most popular picture groups on MacRumors, often exceeding 500 posts and 20,000 views per month.

Photo of the Day is intended to be a showcase for your best pictures. There is no limit to your gear, just your imagination. P&S and film cameras are welcome along with DSLRs."

HOPING the now overcast, rain will clear out by 2am for start of the Partial Lunar Eclipse (97.4% eclipsed, should show "blood moon"), the longest in 580 years. Peak Eclipse at 4:02am around here.

"intended for photos"

nowhere does the first post say that related discussion is prohibited.
