I'll certainly miss your contributions as well. Good luck to you!

You could always try running with something more compact and affordable to scratch that occasional itch. I often waffle between the balance of nice sharp lenses and gripped bodies versus the compact stuff and tiny primes. I've hoofed it at the zoo with the G9+PL100-400, which pushes 4lbs, and I've been there with an EM5iii and 75-300ii which I don't think even tips 2lbs. One is sharper, the other is just way easier to carry. I think these camera companies stay afloat on people like me who can't make up their minds! :D

I completely understand that particular point of view but for me it has never been about the gear, i don't compromise when gearing up if i feel it's necessary. I buy what I like, regardless of the price/cost. Weight and likewise is not a concern at all. I like having the equipment with me when planning a shoot.

I don't casual shoot, I plan every shot (almost), sometimes days/weeks ahead, and if the weather conditions seems right I'll give it a go.

Lately I was interested to go trying out medium format, Hasselblad or likewise but have just had a feeling I want to prioritize other stuff in life.
If I want to start shooting someday I will, off course. Regardelss. If it a pause or for life, don't have a clue and actually it doeasn't really matter.
Thanks all for your kind words.

Just home from surgery and wife would freak out if sat at PC (windows) where most processed photos are, so stuck with iPhone, MacBook Pro, iPad with iCloud access to photos. My last shoot day before surgery as selling my 92 y/o mother’s house and pole photography is controlled by the iPhone (copy there plus SD card where later processed). Still kicking myself that didn’t get photos 10 years ago when sold my childhood home and didn’t make the trip over while still furnished. That’s why the last minute trip. This one didn’t need to much post other than leveling horizon.

I get that. The situation you describe I’ve seen come up from time to time on another photography forum I visit (the stepping away part, anyway). May the time away be good for you!

So going back through the various test shots from the new Lumix. This was those same Thanksgiving flowers, before I figured out that the Macro zoom was digital not optical. ISO was 500. Between the in camera digital cropping and moderate ISO there is some noise, but not at all objectionable. Since I was zoomed in from 24 to 72mm the image base is probably about 2MP with everything else interpolated up to the 18MP that is max resolution when shooting with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

That entire Tennessee/Western North Carolina area in the mountains is just beautiful! I recognized the name Johnson City from my many trips down to visit my parents near Linville, NC.
Super cool! Yeah Western NC is beautiful. My brother lives in Asheville, NC. This whole 26 corridor from JC down to Asheville is one of the most spectacular drives.
