Went for a bird walk with Fleurieu Birds yesterday morning around the Onkaparinga Estuary.

I took out "The Challenge", my 80's model, fully manual, 400mm Vivitar that has been modified to fit anything that uses the Canon EF mount.

Many challenges arose for me, with using a manual lens that requires about 5 turns of the focus ring to get from one end of the focus range to the other, but I persevered with it and got some good pictures as a result. Just wish it had more reach again, 600mm would be nice!

Here's a male Superb Fairy Wren. A tiny bird, that's constantly on the move, which was a real test for my eye to manually track, let alone focus on!

This was taken from about 10 metres away and then cropped into heavily.

Is your name really Peter Sutcliffe? That's really unfortunate if it is and really inappropriate if it isn't.
