Camera: Nikon D800 with Dark Current Enable hack | Remote shutter: TPLink portable router running a custom version of DDWRT, used as an intervalometer

Lens: Tamron 300mm f/2.8 LD @ f/5 | ISO: 800 | Exposure time: 76s x 52 frames = 65.85min

For 76s shutter at 300, you must have your 800 on a tracking mount no?

Took this outside tonight in infrared. Couldn't see anything with LV (handheld stopped down to f/8), so both focus and composition were "best guesses." Used an IR flash to light the leaves.

You guessed wisely!

Lovely effect well done. Lovely capture of the texture.

Caught a moon burst as the moon rose up behind the building. Comments always appreciated.

Moonburst over the Lowry
by another scotsman, on Flickr

That is beautiful, the colours are so vivid and the moon burst is nice and crisp. Nicely done but the pavement maybe just maybe detracts from the colourfest a bit. I suspect though that is necessary to have gotten the angle on the moon burst?

You are absolutely killing these architecture shots though!

How are you getting the other people out of shot? Are you using long exposures or using multiple images to use their movement to edit them out in PS?

Thanks Kenoh. I try to just avoid people. This is only a single 30sec or so exposure which might have resulted in ghosts if anyone walked through. As you say, the angle is what was needed but I thought the pavement+rail gave a bit of a lead-in. I'll do another crop and see what I can do. Thanks again.

I hope St Nick shows up in a better maintained ride on Dec 25th!
You're looking , but not seeing ... The boat belongs to St. Nicholas III ; his grandson . Besides , how could reindeer tow a sponge boat?? Plus , Rudolph's nose would probably short out as soon as he hit the water .

lol.... I prefer not to be ageist... Nick the third could in all accounts be the big guy himself... there has been a Nick in role for centuries. I would imagine Nick Snr is enjoying some well earned feet up time by now :)

*edit*: hang on! Were we really on the verge of going into debate about flying reindeer and their prowess in pulling a sponge boat? :) I think sir most definitely doubteth too much the skills of Rudolph and his weather sealed light emitter in tugging a scooner.... ;-)

Thank you for your kind words, good sir. Most appreciated.

May I suggest that's not the case at all and put it to you that the people on here are just wimps and scared of a challenge. :p

Lol... A challenge suggests there would be a chance of a different outcome than expected. In this case I share the sentiments that suggest it is not a fight we could win. You are too good at it. Even if this young lady should have worn bigger pants...:)

Challenge accepted! I'm actually doing my first studio session next Thursday. I've bought a background, umbrella and everything!
Unfortunately it's some bloke who needs some portfolio shots, but you've got to start somewhere!

I wanted to share this one, not because it's a masterpiece of photography, but just because it's fun and I couldn't resist taking it!

Good spot!
Someone on this forum was a bit 'sniffy' about Hull (or 'Ull, as we say in Yorkshire). But, after a few photo trips, I'm rather warming to the place. The old part of town is austerely atmospheric, with loads of fantastic pubs...

Hull is going to be the 'City of Culture' in 2017, so I'm hoping I'll get some stock pic sales...

If they are of this caliber I'm sure the sales will come flooding in.
