Nice. But what is it?

Thanks, AFB!! It is part of the headlight on my neighbor's "Smart Car".... :) I was walking past and for some reason -- light must've been just right -- this time it caught my eye and I immediately sensed a photo lurking within, so pulled the iPhone XS out of my pocket and spent a happy several minutes playing around with seeing if I could indeed come up with an interesting shot. That old saying about "the camera you have with you"....is really true. Sure, I could've run into my condo unit -- this was right in front of my building -- and grabbed a "real" camera but by then it is likely that some of the immediacy and spontaneity would have already dissipated. Not that the car was going anywhere in the next little while, as my neighbor has actually been out of town over this long weekend. I'm sure that if any of my other neighbors had happened to have looked out their windows they would have wondered what the heck I was doing.....LOL! So that's the story.....

Thanks. I’d never have guessed that in a million years! Well glad one of us is making use of their Xs camera! At least I got round to editing and posting one of mine today!

I am loving the XS!!!! It really does seem to be able to capture much more detail and to manage lighting situations much better than previous generations of the iPhone. At first I was leery of the "Smart HDR," as in general I am not a big fan of HDR, having seen too many way, way overdone examples of it, but so far I have been happy with the results coming out of my XS and it doesn't seem to overdo things. Of course in post-processing there is the option to dial things back a bit if need be.....

The headlight components were picking up the colors in what I was wearing and reflecting those -- once I realized that, it made the creation of the image even more fun and intriguing.....

I do really enjoy taking photos which make people wonder, "what IS it?" -- I daresay that for me, this is part of the challenge and part of the fun as I explore the potential of creativity in photography!

We used to have a photography thread on here where you had to guess what it was.

Oh, yes, AFB , I remember that thread!!! Eyeball Benders!!! Cool name, cool thread! I followed it but never actually contributed. an image, although I commented a couple of times...I guess at that point I was still not quite ready to jump back into photography. Anyway, yes, that was a neat thread!
