We have a fountain and several aerators in our little "lake" in order to keep down algae and such, plus our resident waterfowl help by eating some of the aquatic plants, too, along with fish and other denizens of the deep.
Met up with this young Mallard the other day and he assured me that everything in his world is just ducky:
