Of all the birds that visit our feeders, the downies are the bravest. I can (carefully) walk out there and, say, (carefully) fill the bird bath with fresh water, and the downies won't fly away.Male Downey Woodpecker enjoying some seeds at our feeder. One fine day in Central Park.
Blue Jays might be the prettiest, but they are bullies compared to other birds. Even their squawking sounds bullying. 🤣Another day, another set of blue jays, lol. At the moment they are the prettiest birds visiting (now that the goldfinches have turned dull gray). This one was really playing around with that leaf, which activity I did not get a photo I liked. So here he is proudly grasping it.
