Light is everything in photography.....and all too often people forget that. Also, depth, detail and resolution, which simply can't be equaled in a cell phone shot. This is where DSLRs and mirrorless cameras and lenses really shine....
I completely agree that DSLRs will never be replaced by cell phone cameras, but give an excellent photographer either of these tools, and they can take your breath away… 😊

We've got some color in our area, and from our deck there's some now.

Couple anecdotes connected to this photo. This jay really wanted at the peanuts. BUT...the red-winged blackbirds are about to fly south, and before they do they gorge themselves, loading up for the trip. So at any given time he's competing with several of them, plus additional grackle devil-birds that have followed the blackbirds to what they hope is good chow.

But about those blackbirds...I have set the weight tolerance to my feeders at a very low level. One blackbird could eat from the peanut feeder, but two or more at a time will close it up. They will fight each other for access now: they know only one at a time will work. Grackles are even heavier, and it's a 50-50 shot that even one of them will be able to access them. But right now they're all swarming in the attempt.

Agree with you. All depends on the person behind the camera, regardless if it's a cellphone camera or not. An example of a very nice photo taken with a cellphone is posted by GuruZac in page 5 of this thread.
