.. thanks for bringing back some fond memories - I lived almost across the street from the Public Gardens for several years, and truly enjoyed many moments there!!
It is quite an impressive place! I hoped to get a photo of the main gate but there were a lot of people there as it was a beautiful afternoon. It will definitely be on my list to visit again the next time we have the opportunity.

I can't believe we're in October already! Where has the year gone?

./~Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as if they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday. ~/.

it was WW2 and they fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.
many survived. heroes all.
otherwise we'd be speaking German or Japanese - not that i've anything against those languages per se …
They are poor souls anyway. Of course heroes. I've seen a war, and always the lower end of the society dies in such wars, most times mobilised against their will. Anyway, off topic. Nice photo!

.. the sculpture projecting a thoughtful moment .. and your photo capturing its essence and the setting so well. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for your kind words.

The sculpture is of the botanist Eric Ragnar Sventenius. It is located in the wooded section of the Jardín Botánico Canario Viera y Clavijo near Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, the largest botanical gardens in Spain, which was established by Sventenius in the 1950s. His grave is nearby.

edit to add: the gardens are well worth a visit if visiting Gran Canaria. The cactus garden alone has about 100 different species of succulent.
