the White Cart Water flows through the centre of Paisley. The brick building in the background is the former Coats Anchor Mill, that exported cotton thread all over the world.

Useless fact: When she was young my mother worked in the Coats thread mill as a thread polisher. Despite searching I still haven't been able to work out what that a thread polisher did.

A person who works as a thread polisher is responsible for finishing and polishing the threads of screws, bolts, and other threaded components. They typically work in a manufacturing setting, using specialized equipment like thread mills and thread polishers.
Cleaning and inspecting threaded components before polishing. Inspecting finished components to ensure they meet quality standards.

Answer comes according to the question. So, I changed the question.

The role of a thread polisher at the former Coats Anchor Mill involved ensuring that the threads produced were smooth and free from imperfections. This was a crucial step in the thread manufacturing process, as it enhanced the quality and appearance of the final product. The thread polisher would typically use various techniques and equipment to remove any lint or rough spots from the threads, making them suitable for use in textiles and other applications.

The Coats Anchor Mill, located in Paisley, Scotland, was part of the larger J. & P. Coats company, which was one of the world’s largest thread manufacturers

Also, I find it much easier to ask those AI tabs, than searching in Google, or other search engines. I got 4 of them.

All they do is search very much faster than a human being. I can always double (triple) check any answer with the other 3.
