The war museum itself is begging for B&W treatment, but here the bridge and other building take your attention away from it. I'd play with POV's from the bridge closer to the museum and apply a heavy vignette to remove or minimise any other buildings that couldn't be eliminated from the shot. I'd also play with long exposures of around the 4-5 minute mark. Just my 2 pennies worth on this fabulous building. ;)

Like this? Only 45sec exposure though. Comments always appreciated.

Really like this picture. I was searching all over for hay that'd ben left in the fields like this but didn't find any anywhere!

Fantastic skies of fire tonight followed by the perfect alignment of the moon behind the flats in the distance from my house. I was out for a walk and saw the moon framing the flats. I have never ran that fast to get home for my tripod!

Lovely photo kenoh. It's at least as good as the one that got away would have been. ;) I wanted to take some photos of the eclipse too but hadn't slept much the night before and was too tired to stay up. What a pair of wusses we are!!! :)

Thank you very much. Lol. Its ok, there is another one in four years time... Maybe it will arrive at a more sociable hour... :)

Before midnight, I so wanted to see it. After midnight however.... Meh, next time... I was however informed that Glasgow was true to form and had cloud cover so it was a bit of an anti climax here anyway...

Why did you balance the boulders on the tips then? That must have been hard work!
Well , I'm retired , and sometimes I get bored ...Actually , it wasn't that difficult . Roswell N.M. is just a few hours away , so I made a few calls and arranged for a flying saucer to help getting the rocks up there . No effort for me plus the aliens work cheap , although they did a lousy job balancing the rocks until they got the hang of it . Think a couple of tourists may have gotten squashed as a result . ;)

The real explanation ( lifted from Wikipedia )
The area owes its remarkable geology to layers of volcanic rock and ash deposited by pyroclastic flow from a volcanic explosion within the Jemez Volcanic Field that occurred 6 to 7 million years ago. Over time, weathering and erosion of these layers has created canyons and tent rocks. The tent rocks themselves are cones of soft pumice and tuff beneath harder caprocks, and vary in height from a few feet to 90 feet.[2]

So at the risk of asking the stupid question on everyone's mind.... Are the tents naturally formed or man made?

They're natural . They just look fake . Allegedly there's only 2 places where this type of formation occurs ; here and somewhere in Turkey .

Bang on the money! Very nicely done.

Thanks Alexander.

Thanks Ish, I was a bit worried that it was a bit picture-postcardy but I was playing with a new lens (Canon 16-35 f4L) so it seemed a suitable subject. Very pleased with the clarity of the rest but sunshine always helps in this regard. Perhaps it's a Scottish thing but with respect to the moon, I also took Kenoh's realistic/pessimistic view that if I did stay up then it would no doubt be cloudy.

It doesn't seem at all like that to me. What I'd really like to do is a b&w photo of the hay to bring out the texture. I can see it in my mind!!

To add insult to injury, it was a clear night here. :-/

I usually see nice bails of hay in fields I can't stop by, like when you are on the motorway!

That's exactly what I did - went back to the adjacent junction!

Thanks Ish - keep looking before they are all collected in.
