Fantastic skies of fire tonight followed by the perfect alignment of the moon behind the flats in the distance from my house. I was out for a walk and saw the moon framing the flats. I have never ran that fast to get home for my tripod!

Thought this was from last night until I read your comment - lovely capture, very atmospheric and all the better for the cloud veiling IMHO.

It was a beautiful sky here tonight as well. However I am feeling full of cold so, the camera stayed in the bag this evening.
Nice shot btw.

Oh no! Hope you are OK! Manflu can be dangerous! It seems to have a negative emotional effect on wives and their patience.

Hope you feel better soon. Thanks for nice words.

Nah, was at 9pm tonight! I ran out the house to get a good vantage point for the red sky sun set, then turned round and saw the moon right behind the flats. It framed them beautifully but by the time i got home it was rising above them...

Happy with the images except first ones ruined due to too high iso.

Thanks for comments. I loved the colours and the moon with the wispy clouds just made it fabulous

I did manage to take a break from nights and attend a family naming ceremony for my 2 grand children - here's Jack, 8 weeks old and nodding off through it all...

"Wake me up when it is my part to talk Gramps!" :)

Now see if that had been me holding him I would have been away too. I remember holding my daughters when they were asleep like this and the hypnotic rhythm of their breathing used to knock me out. No matter where we were!

Congrats on the new little ones!

Great exposure, thought about it, but too much a hassle getting there and home again
Plus the safety factor carrying high end gear in town at night
.......Gary
Thanks, Gary. It was pretty overwhelming, 50,000 people turned up apparently! I won't be doing it again. I've never felt unsafe walking around the city with my Canon 6D and a bag of lenses at night, but I grew up working at night (hospitality) in the city.

You guessed it - a Salford Quays mini-series coming your way...Comments always appreciated.
You really are so lucky with the great architecture you have there, and you are doing it great justice! Have you tried it in B&W? With such strong forms to it, it would be some amazing imagery in B&W. ;)

Thanks Alexander, much appreciated. Funny you should mention B&W, I've a couple on my flickr that I was intended to show here over the next few days - definitely works very well IMHO. The remarkable thing is that it's not raining...

Hmm, I have to say I really like the colours. The B&W are nice but I think part of that view is about the beautiful colours on display IMHO.

Really like them though. Very nice
