Another Milky Way Photo

We camped along the Blue Ridge Parkway last month and I was able to take my first night sky photography there under a new moon. Finally getting a chance to look over more of the photos from that trip.

Photo of the Milky Way taken along the Blue Ridge Parkway 8/13 at 11:17pm. D7000 12mm 1600 f2.8 25sec
Edited in Apple Aperture. Text added in Photoshop.

Found this thing while walking around a local park this morning . Never seen anything like it outside of Central America . Not a great pic , taken with an SL2 and the plastic fantastic 18-55 that I picked up as a refurb a few weeks back as a walk around for an upcoming trip .

The colour blue is not as prevalent in nature is it but when it shows up, it SHOWS UP doesn’t it? Look at that beautiful metallic sheen to it. Stunning.

I decided to retake this with my new Sony A7R III camera and all I can say is wow! I think tomorrow I'm going to go to the park to take some nature shots with the camera and Sony FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 lens.

The thing I link about FF Mirrorless camera is the EVF for I can see what the picture is going to really look like before I press the shutter button. With my old DSLR I had to totally rely on my photography training with the light settings. Don't get me wrong it's very nice thing to know, but for some reason a lot of my shots didn't come out the way I wanted to. Most of them were focusing problems and the AF on the A7R III camera is fantastic (I hear the A7 III and A9 is even better).

When I first saw it it reminded me of the Blue Morphos that you sometimes see in Central America . They look like little sparks flying around when the light hits the blue on the wings . These seem to be similar in that the blue is only visible when the wings are opened . The flip side of the wings is pretty nondescript brownish . No sense advertising your presence too much .

I totally get it. Even with what I now know with photography, I just liked my Sony mirrorless results better. The butterfly above was one from my old a5000. I have many more keepers that I managed to get from relatively cheap kit.

Nothing wrong with cat photos.

My Sophie turned 9 yesterday

P9022615_DxO-XL.jpg

I used to think when people referred to people "looking at cat pics" on the internet, I thought it was a euphemism for looking at mucky photos but it is actually exactly that - people posting and looking at pictures of cats.... lol...

Happy belated birthday wishes Sophie...

I know, I know...cat pic. But haven't felt inspired for anything other than kiddo pics recently. Won't share those, so you are stuck with this cat pic from me ;)

I get muddled up, is this Stella or Zoe?

Either way, Stella image.... ;)
