I try to make a point of doing a fall paddle around small Summit Lake which is located on the continental divide, right on the BC-Alberta border. Usually the combination of fall colours and a calm sheltered lake produces some good images. This year I was not as lucky. The there was a ferocious cold wind coming out of the south east and the normally warm glassy waters were replaced with small icy waves. The leaves were a few days shy of turning. More importantly my mood was gloomy as I was trying to think of what to say to the family of a young girl who had recently committed suicide. There were no answers that day and this one image is all I have to show for this years trip.
