Lake Champlain - bordering NY on the left, Vermont to the right, and straight ahead to Canada.
And unlike many insects, they have the ability to rotate their head, and mantises seem to be very aware of people. This one was keeping a keen eye on the idiot with the camera.
Years ago when I lived in Glendale CA, I would go for my weekly motorcycle ride on Sunday mornings on the Angeles Crest Highway. One Sunday it was overcast and not very pleasant, but I went anyway by myself. Ride started foggy, but when I climbed to about 2000ā, I suddenly came out of the fog to a clear blue sky and warm sunshine! I looked all around and all I could see was the white fluffy top of the fog layer. Rest of the ride was great, it was just like taking off in a plane and breaking through the clouds. A pleasant surprise.

No....anyone can use any tool at their disposal, including cell phone cameras, Point-and-shoot cameras (both film and digital), SLRs (Single Lens Reflex, both film and DSLR [digital]), and mirrorless digital cameras (P&S, Compact, Interchangeable Lens (ILC).....etc.
There are also other threads in other locations on MR which are iPhone photos only, some restricted to a particular model and year of iPhone.
