On the left is the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, near Atigun Pass, on a relatively warm day for January, around -25F. Atigun is a high (elevation 4,739 ft.) mountain pass across the Brooks Range, near the head of the Dietrich River, where the Dalton Highway crosses the Continental Divide (at mile marker 244, about 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle). It is the highest pass in Alaska that is maintained throughout the year, and I believe Atigun is the only pass in the Brooks Range that is crossed by a road. The pass was featured in the reality series Ice Road Truckers.
