A few weeks back , I went to the Cloisters in northern Manhattan . Probably my favorite of all the museums in the city . It's a museum of medieval art . Built to look like a structure from the 13-1400's and incorporating sections of actual vintage structures into the building ; including the 4 cloisters that give the place its' name . Realized when I got home from that trip that taking a rangefinder and a single focal length (35mm) was maybe not such a good idea . Something with a wide zoom would be better . So this morning I went back .

On September 4th (Labor Day in the US) as early evening began, our pool literally went to the dogs when my condominium community had a "Puppy Pool Party" before closing the pool for the season. The dogs seemed to enjoy running around the pool and getting treats more than they did actually being in the pool, and most of them required more than a little encouragement and nurturing support. One of the brave souls who figured out this whole swimming thing while being gently guided:

Have to laugh - when we took our Yellow Lab to one of these, the moment she climbed out of the pool she tossed her cookies in a big way. I guess that was better than doing it in the pool ...

That's one reason we have the "puppy pool party" at the very end of the last day of our summer season! Accidents DO happen, inadvertent physical events DO occur, in the water or out on the pool deck.

Earlier that day, the pool was enjoyed and occupied solely by humans, as usual, but once it was time for the puppy party, most neighbors who had been there primarily for swimming or sunning themselves got out of the water and left, and then it became primarily the dogs and their people (and a few onlookers) who had the run of the place.

I'm not a dog owner myself but I do see and greet many of the dogs and their owners as at various times we're all walking around the lake and neighborhood. It was fun being there with the pups and their people, and watching the festivities (with camera in hand) as well as catching up with and chatting with my neighbors in the community.
