Thank you there was a lot of air turbulence that night which made it very hard to get a sharp focus. If you look at it you will notice there are areas that aren't as sharp as others because of the air turbulence.

I was needing to get away from the recent events and was walking around a local lake after the cinema when I took these shots.

Hope you finally have electricity again! I guess my uncle has gotten his back by now, but I'm not quite sure. Charley has affected me indirectly though....my business cards have been delayed by about a week because of shipping companies. Whate ever happened to the pain of rain, sleet, or snow deal?

That would be the United States Postal Service and they're even out in Charlotte County, although things are quite as regular as they would like either.

The electricity arrived yesterday, although the phone system concentrator at the front of the development still has a battery or generator attached to it.

By the way, since the power was out and therefore my printer, I decided to try self-service photo kiosk printers.

The Fuji version was cheapest at $0.18 per print so I started with that one. It found the directory containing the directory containing the photos but no photos. I could not coax it into seeing what was there.

The Kodak version was $0.28 per print and instantly recognised all of the photos. I believe it showed 8 at a time and you touched the image to select it. At this time, there were also selections for quantity, paper size (4x6 or 8x10) and editing of some sort. The prints started arriving quickly but I noticed a couple of things: the colour seemed slightly faded and the 4 inches was more than 4 inches. It also did not manage to handle a couple of truly contrasty prints well but then, I have to use Photoshop to deal with those anyway.

Both machines warned of printing copyrighted images and the Fuji machine made me believe that if I had marked the images with my name, etc. in Photoshop, that it would reject printing of those images.

how do you get the black and white picture with just the screen and buttons in color? the ipod picture btw...post 6in this thread

here is the easiest way...

1.Take your photo and bring it into photoshop..
2. Make a new layer from copy
3. Select the new layer in the layers pallete, then desaturate the layer.
4. Using any selection tool of your choice, select the areas you wish to regain color to.
5. Next take the background eraser tool (note it is hiding behind the eraser tool)
and draw tool all over selected area to regain color information.
6. Flatten your image (bottom of menu--->layers) and save your file :D

Here is a quicky example of the effect you can produce with the above steps:

Actually, you're 100% wrong! The easiest way of course, is to use the history brush in photoshop! Make a snapshot in the history palette, desaturate, select the color snapshot thumbnail in the history palette and use the history brush to paint in the color. Easy peasy!

Thanks. You can REALLY utilize the history brush to help alleviate outlingin objects, which can take HOURS to do. ;)

Yahooz. Your pics look familiar. There's this guy who used to post here and chat on IM with me who took some VERY similar pics of the library opening in seattle....VERY similar.

Hope you aren't picking photos from tazo's (daniel's) web site and using them on here as your own! That wouldn't be cool!

k apparently i was too vague with my reply... i am tazo/daniel... apparently all the mods have known for a while now..

i got banned, but really liked MR and the atmosphere, so i made a new account so i could post my work to this thread -- i dont think i have posted outside the community forums.

i just thought i could continue to add something to MR -- despite my having been banned...

Welcome back!? and good bye?....

if they knew it was you why didn't they ban you sooner? maybe they had no proof....oh well, we missed you...or at least some of us did....sorry I haven't seen you on FM lately....I've been kind of extremely busy...

BTW, the easiest way to do desat is to copy the layer (to maintain the original color below) desaturate the new layer and apply a layer mask....there's an even easier approach that was in last month's photoshop user but I don't have it with me....I'll post the technique later...
