Another cover

Sony Cybershot 717
Aperture: f2.0
ISO: 100
Focal length: 9.7mm

Here's the cover shot I did for the previous brochure (We're on this art & crafts/dream campaign. I didn't come up with it. It is what it is, and I take the best pics I can to illustrate.)

This is of a native American dreamcatcher.

And the finished cover, minus the university branding (that's put on in Quark in another department.)

EDIT: just noticed this is NOT the finished cover, but the concept piece. I fixed the legibility of the "nothing happen unless first a" part and worked further with the effects on the text. The sweetgrass cover uses the same text effects (slightly different color) as what I eventually came up with for the dreamcatcher. But who really cares.

Just a curiosity

While shooting the dreamcatcher, I happened across this pic. I had an off-camera flash up all the way for a backlit, bounce-flash effect with a light amber gel. I had the camera and flash in one hand and was putting the gel on when the flash pushed the shutter button.

Damn that's a bright flash.

But the pic that resulted was cool. We used it for the back cover at about a 50 percent opacity over an earth-tone color we picked up from the front photo. Worked nicely.

Serendipity’s cool

Camera data's the same as for the dreamcather pic.

Thanks. alot was due to my use of a 35mm f2.0 which gives the same FOV as a 35 but acts like a 50 due to the sensor crop on my DSLR.

If you need any floral shots for that website, lemme know. I'll hook you up with some at a good price.

If I do, I'll definitely get in touch with you! I think I have what I need right now, but I may be doing more sites in the future for florists. Right now, I'm pretty much making a teaser so I can't really spend money not knowing whether or not I'll be getting money. Besides, I like to showcase my own stuff, it's a thing I have. :) However, your shots are some of the very few I'd actually use without them being mine! (It's hard to tell, but that's a comment with high praise :D) The only thing I don't have qualms about is portrait photography, because it's just easier to get stock from someone else :) Besides, how am I going to have fun myself? :D

The answer to that is I won't, since you have such nice stock, and I like to compare and contrast!

I know I'm coming in a bit late, but here, and here are couple of my favourite DOF shots. Actually, the latter is one of my favourite photos ever... sorry for the linkage, I just don't have any online storage :(

here are your picts brap (sorry all, they are unsized):

(brap- all you need to do is copy the link location and put it between a (IMG) and (/IMG) tag, but use brackets [] instead of parens (). also- size them at 800pixels wide on the largest side. )

Hm. I was under the impresison Fotopic didn't let you use external links, thanks... that's why I didn't resize them. Maybe you could edit those links to the smaller versions at fotopic - I've a feeling this might annoy a lot of people, being files of size >1MB.

fixed it. i copied the LINK, not the IMAGE location. Now they are sized closer to specs.

Cute little guy! I showed the owners the photo and they immediately
wanted me to email them a copy. Instant gratification, gotta love it!

Moxie: Love the pictures. Nice round diaphragm blur. :)

I found another DOF shot while I was organizing my photos. It was taken on the Oregon coast a few years ago.
