This is a pic I took at the Supreme Court while I was in Washington this past summer.

That's great. It's no wonder all those old Justices are so dizzy. It would seem you were hanging over the railing a bit too much. I think we're all glad you didn't do a motion shot going to the bottom.

By the way, I'm glad to see that I've had a special effect on three people's lives. :D

My first post to a photography thread, so I'm not sure if I've gone about it the right way... Anyway - it's just an experimental shot taken with my fairly new IXUS 400.

It's got that space station equipment look. It's neat to produce something that isn't figured out instantly.

a posing critter

Got this moth to hold still a moment on a thistle the other morning.

Thanks! - i messed around with different angles to get that one. Apple's designs lend themselves very well to getting that futuristic feel.

Here are a couple more. If they're suitable, I'll post some similar ones later...

This is one of the first pictures I took with my new camera, a Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel). I am in LOVE with this camera, and i love the wide 3:2 aspect ratio!

Bigger Size

(And yes, i realize the horizon line is a little off kilter :))

My first post

Hi everyone, I've been browsing around the site here for a few weeks. This will be my first post. These are some pics I took while on vacation in May.

The flower was from a friend's garden. The kitten is only 8 weeks old and small enough to fit in my hands. And the mirror shot was somewhere in Louisiana or Arkansas on my way to New Orleans.

criana, welcome! The cat looks like it may be a Russian Blue?

bousozoku, that's a depth of fat illustration as well as depth of field. Tasty. Want to buy.

I'll put up (and shut up) a couple more recent dof shots:

Check out these frog eggs. Shot 1:1 with a digital rebel. The second picture is a close up to see the detail...

Great Photos

bousozoku and JDar,
Thank you. The cat I'm not sure about his type, I was staying at a relatives house and woke up to him playing on my head. I wish I could have taken him home.

G4scott,
WOW, that is absolutely amazing. How did you know where to look for those to shoot? Did you use a tripod?

hey look - I finally took some pictures!

I got my G5 this week, and thought I'd play with the camera a bit now that it's all set up.

For the frog eggs, there's a trick that photographers use. My dad actually found the eggs stuck to a stick in a pond, so he picked them up, and put them in a plastic bag with water, and we put the eggs in an aquarium, where we got these pictures. And then, after we got the pictures, we took the eggs back to the pond.

To photograph them, we used a tripod with a special macro adjustment head, and 2 flashes: one from above, and another from the front and to the side, as to not create a glare on the glass.

When I first saw the pictures, I thought it looked like something computer generated...

I don't remember what it's called since I only looked at the name once. I want to call it "clown residue". :D
