Sounds like you may have a photo or photos that are corrupt, unusual or have some weird metadata that the engine is dying on and the whole process quits. I don't have a huge amount of photos, around 750 now, because I deleted everything in February 2014 (long story) and the vast majority of what I do have were taken on my own iPhone so probably pretty vanilla conditions. Hopefully a later beta will set things straight for you.
The whole Memories thing that didn't work for me in beta 1 has been resolved in beta 2. I'm now starting to see auto populated memories appear. Like the "Best of" stuff.
Now that you have access, update people and tell me if you would like your devices to talk about the selections. As it is today, if I tell my phone who people are my MAC/iPad have no idea. I could spend days going through this process. Wonder what you think. The whole Memories thing that didn't work for me in beta 1 has been resolved in beta 2. I was not aware. The way they described the feature is that its the device doing it. Its not sharing any info across the cloud. I assumed it would never sync from one device to another, just hoped it would.Syncing doesn't work yet. Craig Federigi said they're working on it so I guess they're working on it. It's a pain right now and I'm not even going to bother working on until sync works or I'll either end up with a bunch of conflicts or just needlessly replicated work.

Yep, it should work eventually and I'm sure it will be covered in their statistical secrecy thingy whose name escapes me for now.
Not in my case. It matched baby photos into a group and also matched older age photos. I selected the two groups (and more) and told it to merge the people. I hope over time of doing this it will learn more. One thing that stands out is how similar my kids were when young and how I am having to do some manual work to tell the AI who each of them are. Overall its good but you will need to put many hours in if you have a lot of photos and people to name.how are you all finding the facial recognition? is it able to match baby pics with the adult face?
