Do any forums not downgrade picture quality?

I’ve also noticed quality drops when sharing pictures via WhatsApp in statuses and messages. Noticed that Instagram downgrades as well but not as aggressively as whatsapp. Seems like it’s hard to share amazing pics to others unless it’s via email.

That's why iMessage is so awesome and underrated, photos and video quality stays the same when sending them to other people.

iMessage is indeed great however 95% of the people on my friends list don’t have iPhones. Whatsapp is the main messaging app. I suspect for any countries outside of the US Whatsapp is the main way to interact on a cellphone message wise.

Most of us are not professional photographers and have varying interest that may not be to your liking. Not being an ass but just saying appreciate what is being posted. Unless you have something that will blow us away.
Completely fair. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend anyone, but can understand it being taken that way. I’m just not really seeing the difference between the 11 Pro and 12 Pro Max images I’ve seen. That’s all, continue on.

Thank you and well said!!!

From the 11 there is a meaningful difference for me, and most of it comes down to how much darker it needs to be for Night mode to kick in. The main camera is also extremely sharp - everyone's focused on bigger pixels and image stabilization, but not enough talk on how crisp that lens is.

The 12 Pro vs Pro Max will be more splitting hairs for now, but I suspect that once the ProRAW release hits, the Pro Max will easily separate itself from the pack, and the differences will be meaningful. The bigger the sensor, the more latitude for editing.

Question: I’ve seen some great night sky pictures taken with the Max using a 30 second exposure. The most I can get using night mode is 10 seconds. How is 30 done? (I assume you have to use a tripod.)

Yes, exactly. If you use a tripod or something else similar, the camera will recognise the extra stability after a few seconds, and give you the option of a longer exposure.

Not liking some of the pics I see here, looks like 11 Pro with a HDR filter turned up too high resulting in a loss of depth in the image. Some of the images look too flat I find myself getting confused and not knowing where to look in the pic (this happens with almost all the night shots I’ve seen and a decent number of daylight shots).

BTW this has nothing to do with the photographers and their compositions, the image processing seems to be the issue.

I agree with you in certain cases. Doing a landscape shot using night mode kind of left the phone trying to wonder what to even color in the first place. But if you have enough lighting on your target in night mode and the detail is nice. That being said, I’m finding post production a wee bit more tedious than working with an actual camera, along with shots just looking a wee bit blobby.

TL>DR; it’s a cellphone camera that’s no where close to a full time camera. You’ll be happier if the baseline wasn’t that.
