All about the desperados!

Desperado? Oh you're a hard one! But I know you got your reasons. It seems to me some fine things have be laid upon your table.

Local ales are my preference. There was great brewery near me, but then I moved away. Sometimes visitors still bring me a couple of bottles of 'best'!

Rogue 21

This is a once-brewed ale, and I'm a fan of Rogue, so I had to try it. I tasted it right out of the fridge, and it seemed like it needed to sit and lose some of its chill. After that, it was full of flavor. It has many characteristics of an Old Ale without the sharp alcohol taste and with enjoyable Strong Ale bitterness. You can taste some of Rogue's molasses that is familiar from their Dead Guy Ale. The color is not as dark brown as in the picture but more of a medium brown with caramel head.

Overall, a tasty, extremely well-balanced beer, but not enough to make me buy it again at its price.

Been having a good bit of Tröegs Nugget Nectar while I can still find it. Six-packs and bombers. A highly sought after beer in places where it's unavailable, and with good reason! It has been on tap around here, too.

My roommate is a bit of a beer junkie so I'm trying a bunch of different types, but I'm not a fan of the majority of them.

My most recent enjoyment:

Here are three of my recent favorites...

Chimay as always and anything from Lost Abbey.

Kona's Pipeline is a limited release. It is brilliantly brewed with Kona Coffee

The reason for this is because the 6-row barley that is native to North America has a protein content higher than the historical two-row barley used for beer-style pilsner. When American macro breweries began copying the style of the Czech pils cold mist undesirable additional protein was evident and corn became the main ingredient due to its low protein and increase the availability of the region. This practice continues today, despite the fact that ingredients such as corn and rice in beer are mainly used to facilitate mass production and indefinite useful lives, while about a product resulting in more convenient for the end user.

Went out after work with a few co-workers last night.

Had on tap:
Blue Point Hoptical Illusion
Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter Nitro
Long Trail Coffee Stout
Flying Dog Dog Schwarz
The Bruery Mischief

And had a bottle of Trappistes Rockefort 10

I recommend trying the Flying Dog Dog Schwarz. It's a pricey bottle, so on tap is best, but it is great. Like smoked meat.

Inspired by some of the posts here I decided to take my first foray into the world of American craft beers and microbrews by treating myself to my first bottle of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I realise that Sierra Nevada is at the more "commercial" end of the craft beer scale but it's one of the few that is readily available to me off the shelf at my local supermarket.

It made a nice change from the regular American beers that I'm used to drinking; Budweiser, Coors, Miller etc, and I genuinely enjoyed every last drop of it, and if it wasn't for the fact that I'm trying to lose a bit of weight could have easily finished the remaining 3 bottles!

Next on my list is Brooklyn Beer's Black Chocolate Stout, though obtaining this will require more than a quick trip to the local supermarket, also on the list is Flying Dog's Doggie Style Pale Ale.

Recommendations are welcome...
