Macs are made with cheap parts too, but it's what they do with them.
Aston Martin.. Mmm.

The computer analogy doesn't work for me.

If I was spending £120K on a car, I'd rather not be looking at interior parts from a Ford Focus.

The thing that I really don't like about Porsche is that every model looks the same. This is quite a high model but it looks practically identical to the entry level Boxster and I really don't like the look at all. Very dated in my opinion and lacking any sort of personality. Dare I say boring?

Porsches are not made for looking at, they're made for driving. They're not boring at all from behind the wheel. :)

That said, I've been in love with the iconic 911 shape since I was a little kid and I suspect I'm not alone in that regard. Your "dated" is my "timeless." There's something just beautifully purposeful about the shape and design of a Porsche (well, most of them at least) in a Howard Roark-ian sense. Porsche does jump the rails from time to time, like with the current 911 Turbo which looks like an awkward batmobile to me all covered in ridiculous vents and slats.

Well Jaguar and Land Rover fans can rejoice, Ford has sold them to some indian company named Tata. I have no idea how that will affect the future, but I hope that this will help bring the companies back. I'm not a huge Rover fan at all, but I do love the Range Rover Sport and I think that with Ford out the picture can actually help the company in the long run. As for Jaguar, who knows? The X-Type has been a complete failure and will be dropped in North America after 2008. The XJ has just been redesigned, so that might help sales of that car. The XK has also been redesigned, though it kinda reminds me of an Aston in the front end. The only bright spot in Jaguar's future is the XF, which looks to be a very nice looking car with a more modern look than any of the previous Jag's (with the exception of the new XK).

Btw, love the pictures of the Porsche. With the exception of the Corvette, no car is iconic as the 911. The shape is still original after 40+ years, and it still looks sexy. I'm glad to see that Porsche switched back to the round headlights; the 996 model kinda lost it for a couple of years and for awhile looked a little to similar to a Boxster up front (even though I noticed the difference between the 2) That said, I want my first sports car for the 911. The Corvette is for retirees, the 911 is for sports car enthusiasts!

In a word... no. Those are some of the ugliest sports car interiors I have ever seen. Porsche and Lamborghini interiors absolutely blow those out of the water. The fob in one of those looks like something GM would have distributed 5-10 years ago.

If you'd like to see limosuine luxury, not a sports car (even though it has a V12), check out the Maybach 57 (Owner-driven) or 62 (Owner or chauffeur driven). There is absolutely nothing more luxurious besides a private jet, and it could easily take on one of those for any kind of luxury machine award.

Not just interior either, remember the AM Shooting Break of the early 90s? that rear screen is pure Escort Estate, yum.

I couldn't help but notice that too. What the keyfob looks like wouldn't be a deciding factor in buying a car, but if you're spending over 100 grand on a car, I'd expect something a bit nicer. My VW has a nicer key fob and it costs a tiny fraction of what an Aston does.

Of course, I don't think anything, other than maybe one of those fancy RFID keyless keys, could beat an awesome VW keyfob :D Switchblade keys FTW!

I love my moms Range Rover Sport key fob...

It's the switchblade design with a lock and unlock button but it has a programmable button which can
- Panic
- Turn on headlights
- Unlatch Trunk
- Adjust Air Suspension (for connecting a trailer)
- etc

The best thing about is that when you put it in the ignition it recharges the battery inside the fob. The problem with many of the VW keys is that the silver part at the bottom where you attach to a key ring breaks off. Both of our Touareg Keys have the silver part broken off.

Wow, I must say, that is awesome.

On the topic of key fobs, my friend was telling me that this guy he knows has a VW and when he locks his doors with the windows down, it will automatically roll up all open windows. Awesome, IMO. I wish my Elantra had this feature. The Elantra does some cool stuff, though. Like, for example, if you unlock the doors with the remote, it'll automatically lock them back if you don't open a door in 30 seconds. Nice safety feature.

My Camry has the same feature. Unfortunately, when Toyota designed the remote for a car that cost $25k back in 2000, the idiots forgot to put a trunk release button on the remote. I've seen $15k cars with trunk releases, and it's annoying to have to use the key to unlock the trunk.

My car was about $16k or so new and it unlocks the hatch when you push the unlock button on the key fob. Central locking system, FTW!

while on the topic of key fobs on my is250 i accidently found out if I hold down the unlock all the windows roll down. kinda cool if its really hot out.

additional:
I got a garmin nuvi gps (or whatever its actually called) and I really like it. 100 and something. Had trouble finding a spot to put it so it lives on top of the drink holder cover thing (cause there will be no eating drinking or food in general in the passenger cabin)

My 2001 Suzuki Vitara also locks the doors automatically, after 10 seconds though. Also, the first press of unlock, unlocks the driver door only, and a 2nd press unlocks all the doors including the rear cargo door(trunk).

It's called "Lazy Locking". The other is "Auto Lockout" I think. You might want to call your dealer because there are some options that the dealer can turn on and off with computers. I know for my dads old car you could program day time driving lights, when you press unlock whether it unlocks just the driver's door or all doors, auto door lock after 5mph, 1 touch down on all 4 windows, superlock* on with 2 lock presses/on always/never on, etc, door chime on/off, seatbelt chime on/off, etc.

Cars have so many secretive things. My old car if you held the key in the lock position for 5 seconds it would lock w/o the alarm system on. If you pressed the defroster button while turning on the ignition it would go through an electrical system diagnostic test- it was pretty cool lights would flash and wipers would wipe and other random things would turn on and off.

*Superlock is this thing Land Rover and other expensive cars have where the doors are electronically dead-bolt locked in addition to normal locking so if a thief was trying to get the door open he could neither pick the lock nor break a window and open the door. This is not a very good system though because if your battery dies and the doors are super locked, how do you get it in your car, or get at the battery? Also, if you superlock someone in the car on a hot day, how do they get out? It just seems dangerous. Cars already have immobilizers and coded keys so being able to steal a car is difficult enough.

My dads coworker with an XJ8 had the superlock w/dead battery issue. The dealer ended up cutting some wiring for the tail lights and plugged in a battery charger.

My moms touareg does the window roll down/window roll up + sunroof shut only when you use the key hole on the outside of the car (hold in lock position and it will roll up windows), it doesn't work holding down buttons on the fob.

See, it'd not bother me, I'd agree with Brianstorm91. I'd spend £120 grand just for the badge... mmmmmm...

I love the pen holder in that image. Probably a bargain £1000 extra!
