Got this about 3 weeks ago.

It's a 2004 1.4 TDCI (diesel baby!) Ford Fiesta Zetec. UK Road tax is £35 a year, and it does 60mpg. Handles really well, and considering that it's a diesel, it fairly quiet at motorway speeds. Awesome little car - highly recommended!

Although Nidserz' Merc would be nice... :)

Here's my ride. 2006 Prius. The husband and I nicknamed it "The Black Pearl". One of the best investments I've ever made. During the summer months I can get close to 58 mpg out of her. Can't wait for a full-electric model.

Is that all? Obviously thats pretty good.. butt if you had the new mini diesel it would give you around 64 mpg and would look a bit less greenpeace :p

Well first off, you have imperial gallons, so us in the USA are talking 53 mpg, and also, for some reason, companies don't like to sell us decent vehicles as you guys have the high gas prices, and not us. I personally would like some decent small cars over this side of the pond, but we aren't getting any.

We actually get quite a few of those compact diesels in Canada, lots of smart cars up here and diesel Chryslers. I don't understand why they are so resistant to selling them in the States. I'm sure they would sell good even if some of them can't be sold in California.

Yeah.. Amazing that the LHS was designed in the mid-late 90s, and yet its curves have not gone out of style. Like wizwaz3 said, the LH line has aged well.

My mom loves the Impala; we just took it home lastnight. It's nice to see a car all brandy new and shiny for that first week or two.... Then, dirt and clutter and...........

Yeah the Impala is a huge improvement over the version before it, that car was terrible looking. Also, here are a few things to watch out for on theses cars:

Failing remote keyless entries, faulty tire pressure monitor systems, intermediate steering shaft, and faulty power steering. All of these apply to GM's W-Body cars (including defunct Monte Carlo, Pontiac Grand Prix and Buick LaCrosse. However, i'm sure GM has solved all of this by now. This mostly applied to the '06, but just wanted to fill you in. :)

Many thanks! She actually had a family friend put in the remote entry/starter system, as they own a large businesses here that does that, so hopefully we won't have those issues.

I thought I would post for you all a piece of automotive art:

A 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS... what a terrible car, GM. With it's decent but unrefined 3.1 V6, boring looks, terrible interior, bad driving dynamics, and resale value that goes down more than Paris Hilton. I've been driving it lately to keep the miles off my car... and it makes me appreciate it much more after driving it for a couple of days.

I actually like the last generation of them... Too bad they stopped production. The massive American coupe (just ten years ago we had at least 5 solid offerings) is almost history... :(

Just picked up my new wheels a couple of days ago: a modified Lotus Elise 111s (S2). Car has quite a lot of extras: OZ alloys, Lotus sports suspension, Lotus Stage 1 Exhaust, Close ratio gearbox, HID conversion, Aluminium-belled discs...

Theres one of these in my area that travels home at the same time as me on Fridays.. we often meet on the congested roads and then do the next 15 windy miles on the roads cross country..
If he wanted to leave me he could but I think we both enjoy blasting round the little roads!!!

Lovely car i think, if a bit unreliable??

I agree. I love the 2006-2007 models with the Impala-like front end and cleaned up interior. I've never been a huge fan of coupes since their doors are too long and the back seats are much smaller, but of them all the Monte Carlo was one of the better ones.

You better drive that carefully! First car and all that.

My little puppy got snowed on too. :(

My sister's got a fig! A Lapis grey one! Although she's moved to Poland for a year so I've got it.

You didnt buy yours from a dealer in Wanstead by any chance did you? He replaced the distibutor with one from a Nissan Primera, it flies now (esp when you put in Tesco Super Unleaded)

Rawr. Love that generation of GTO's. It has some of the most supportive and comfortable seats of any car I have ever been in.

A buddy of mine told me his mom is getting into a brand new Liquid Red G8 GT soon. Should really be a replacement for the GTO here. Similar chassis and engine as well, so it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

Anyways, love the car.

The G8 won't be that similar. Trust me, I've got a toned down Australian version and it's much much better. The old GTO was based on a platform dating back to 1997 whereas the new G8 is quite heavily revised. I find the biggest difference is in the steering precision and ride comfort, to be honest.

Back in the 80's, I had a Merkur XR4Ti. I really liked that car.

Before I came to Japan, I was looking at getting a German built (not imported) Porsche 928. I decided against it due to the high maintenance costs. The German version, performance wise, was much better than the US imported version.

I drooled over the DeLorean DMC-12. I came so very close to getting one of these. By close, I mean I had pen on the paper ready to sign. But I decided to think about it over night and changed my mind.

Now, I have two Toyota 4 door sedans. One is 13 years old and my new one is 11 years old. ;)
