The Audi A4's are great cars... but if something breaks, they can quickly become not so great when you have to pay the bill. :(

Exactly. Thats why I just donated mine and picked up the Jetta. Although I assume the Jetta won't be any cheaper to fix..

Not to mention that it is the M5 with the V10 under the hood. :D

I really liked my first E46M3...the vert was a pig but fun. The Z4M was a blast....I was never real hot on the styling but that S54 engine just sings in that chassis....then reality...I never really drove it much other than sunny days. So, the M5 was the compromise for the family. I can fit all 5 of us in it and it is a blast to drive...all 4,000 lbs of it with that V10 screaming.

Nice car!

I think I've posted pics of my GTI, but it's a 2008 package 2 (err....autobahn package is what they renamed it to for 08) with 6 speed manual, and white. No mods, and I don't plan on modding it, the car is plenty fun as it is :D

I had 2 a4's that had never seen a shop.

That's a nice thing to hear, as you tend to hear quite a bit of bad things about VW/Audi reliability. I don't really care, though, as I'd still love to give them a chance myself at some point. I've said it before in this thread, but I'd really love my next car to be a GTI VR6. MkIV preferably.

I got mine from a place in Southend, had it for a few years now and it's been fine except for a battery dying on me.

Mind you it will need some work this year, I have left it out of the garage one too many times.

:(

Is the bodywork/roof a bit tatty now? Thats a bit pricey to get sorted, but it'll be worth it.

Mechanically, the Figs are tough little bastards! They're based on the old K10 Micra which were very reliable and well designed.

I know an eccentric Fig specialist in Wanstead, East London, who knows everything about Figs, practically. If you want major work done on it, it'd be good to talk to him. I could PM you his details if you like.

BTW: you dont have a spare Fig cupholder by any chance? :D

I know I'll be chancing it, but oh well. I want a VR6! :p

Maybe I'll end up getting a good one. I guess you really take that chance when buying any car. I had a Chevy Beretta that would get about an inch of water in the driver's side floor when it would rain. It was terrible. I liked the car, but man. Ugh. Ended up selling it.

Love those! I've always been a Volvo fan, as well. I tried to talk my Dad into getting an 850 Turbo Wagon when I was a kid. Those were so cool.

It is usually a hit or a miss with VW products. I like their products but would never take the chance myself....

I am a fan of the C30 as well :)

Here is my new car. A few pages back I posted a picture of my old 98 Chevy S-10. Well...here is the new love of my life. I just got her yesterday. And yes, it is a her.

2006 VW Jetta 2.5l
17 inch alloy wheels
Leather interior

I am in love with this car. I put over 175 miles on it in the last 24 hours just driving it around and showing it off. I woke up this morning at 8:00 and woke up the girlfriend just so we could go out and drive and get some McDonald's breakfast.

My MBP has gotten a break from me the last 24 hours cuz I've been driving this beauty so much!

I plan on giving it a good buff/polish this week and hand waxing it then taking it downtown to get some good HQ pictures taken. I'll be sure to post them when I do.

I included a nice before and after picture too that I took when they pulled my new baby up next to the truck.

edit: sorry I don't know why MR flips my iphone pictures but just tilt your head if you wanna see it.

The 2.0T FSI motor has monster potential! I dyno'd a 30 hp/45 lb-ft gain at the wheels with software alone, which leads me to believe that VW detuned the heck out of these motors. No loss in driveability, either. About the only compelling reason to get the 3.2L V6 is for totally linear power (and AWD on the R32).

Don't forget the sweet sound of the VR6! ;)
