Congrats on your response. It sickens me when people try to justify what another person does. Do what makes YOU happy, to many people worry about what others think.

Well to put it simply.. im just one of those guys that likes to stand out and doesnt care if im paying over 30k more just to get the Name and Emblem of Cadillac.. haha not much of a off road guy considering i live in the center of a city. its just the style and luxury these tanks have that i like..

So I'm guessing that money must be no object then?

Where I live, fuel was close to US$10/gal last summer, and if I had a car like yours there is no way I could possibly afford to make journeys that I do. I think it would be pretty interesting to see what would happen if this occurred in the USA for a prolonged period.

Maybe it's just me, but I begrudge paying vast amounts of money for a substance which I am literally just going to burn.

That's what you're doing now, is it not? Turning my legitimate and curious questioning into something more sinister.

Pardon me if I offended you, clearly that wasn't my intention. He wanted an Escalade therefore he purchased an Escalade. I'm pretty sure if he wanted another type of vehicle he would have purchased it. He shouldn't have to justify his reasoning to anyone on his purchase. You made 2 very good points...the keywords are in italics and bold.

"there is no way I could possibly afford to make journeys that I do."

"Maybe it's just me, but I begrudge paying vast amounts of money for a substance which I am literally just going to burn."

In conclusion, why should he be questioned regarding a purchase he made?

My car regularly gets 50mpg and never dips below 45, despite it being a turbocharged, mid-engined, convertible Mercedes-Benz :D

Of course, the engine is an 80bhp 3-cylinder beast but I wouldn't have it any other way. These photos are old but it's far too cold and the car is far too dirty to take some more:

I was looking at the Smart Roadster (which you forgot to mention in your post :p) a few years back when I moved to Germany.

Still kicking myself today for not getting one. :(

The reason I post my pictures here is to find out what people think, good or bad. I don't see what's wrong with showing your distaste for another person's vehicle, criticism which they have invited by posting here. What other possible reason is there for posting pictures of your car here?

It's a discussion forum. It's not a "hey dude that's awesome, so is that and everything is awesome!" rose tinted land - there are going to be disagreements. It's just unfortunate that some people think that someone else's negative opinion of an inanimate object which they own is somehow indicative of a personal dislike or hatred. It isn't!

Well if you still live there, they are very available and actually reasonably affordable now. The reason they sold so badly was because they were priced in the same bracket as traditional small sports cars which had more power, but the used prices have fallen significantly in the past few years.

Still, why should anyone have to justify their purshase just beacause YOU think different then they? Everything isnt about what you like and everyone cant live there life by your standards......

You waste more fuel than a pedestrian do so tell me one good reason why you cant walk instead of driving....

I merely asked TK B$K why (s)he chose that instead of a BMW or Audi. The missing link in your accusation is my car - I don't have a BMW or Audi, so for him to "live there life by my standards" I would have to have suggested that they get the same car as me. I didn't, I just asked a question.

You'll also note that TK B$K responded in a calm fashion, they didn't take my question to be an insult or some sort of jibe. I don't see why everyone else is so offended by it.

Also, just because I asked a question doesn't mean they have to answer!

I posted this in the old thread but it was nearly dead last :)

Went from this:

to this:

Sideofcar.jpg

The subaru started life as an 02 WRX. I swapped in a JDM STI Version 7 motor (8k rpm and forged internals), transmission (bullet-proof 6-speed), rear diff, brakes and interior. Some minor mods like KW coilover suspension, an exhaust and tune, and some exterior enhancements :). Ended up around 290 whp and was fantastic around the track. I had big plans (GT35R turbo, 500 whp on race gas) but then I realized it was retarded to be spending so much money on a car at my age. I moved on to Real Life (tm), married my HS sweetheart, and went off to grad school.

I sold the car and used the money to buy a new Mazdaspeed 3 (Mazda 3 MPS for the rest of you). It's bone stock and has stayed that way for a year and a half. You have no idea how much restraint that requires.

EDIT: caught myself looking at intakes yesterday.

Can you just stop talking.

There are plently of people in the world that do irrational things. Like buying 4wd SUVs when they live in a city in the south, or huge houses with no kids, putting in swimming pools and never using them, etc. My dad drives 150 miles round trip to work every day (why not move closer?). Not everyone is a utilitarian robot focused on productivity and efficiency. Maybe bought an escalade because likes being up high. Maybe he can afford the gas since it's cheaper here. Maybe he has a family to shlep around. Maybe his job or hobbies require a large car. Maybe he likes cars that are reliable and inexpensive to fix than BMW's and Audis. Maybe he just likes them. Maybe he has a house outside of the city he needs to travel to. I absolutely loathe Escalades because they're ugly, expensive, don't have great interiors, and underneath they're just a chevy tahoe/gmc yukon. He's entitled to owning it though. This debate has gone over and over and over again through here.

Quit this stupid bickering, all of you.

This is a picture gallery thread for people who want to post pics of their cars, not a thread for discussing the moral choices of car purchasing. For those who feel the need to discuss these matters, then I suggest creating another thread in community discussion. Thanks.

That's a beautiful machine
but nitrous? since when did a nissan come stock with nitrous?

funniest thing i have ever heard!!! its N2, which is Nitrogen, not Nitrous oxide, which is N20. I would laugh at anyone who puts N20 in the tires of their car haha that stuff is super cold!
