Puma, You have a lot of valid points and it sounds much better than what I originally thought you were complaining about in your edited post. I think something to keep in mind is that a lot of kids are wanting to be that spoiled kid whos mom and dad give them whatever they want and will say things to look that way. It was a strange image that kids wanted to have when I was growing up. Their family didnt have much yet they want to make it look like they did. If they are truly that spoiled kid then you could only hope that reality hits them upside the head like a ton of bricks when they get weaned...

I had to make a ton of mistakes myself and finally am heading in a direction that is proper. I am in no way jealous of anyone that gets it handed to them as I promise you they will know not even 10% of what I have had to learn along the way! It sounds like you may be in the same boat, people who had to sort it out for themselves will be able to get through tough times. Those that have not wont know the first thing to do in order to save their behind when things go bad.

Fair enough, I probably am in the same boat as you. I did edit the posts out for a reason, but when they got brought back up I figured I'd elaborate.

Just one of those days I guess. Wanting to own a home and watching my friend and his grad student wife sign papers on having their first home BUILT brand new probably was enough to do it. Im happy for them, I am, but crap like that gets old too sometimes. I wish I was in a spot to have a $20k wedding paid for, a honeymoon booked and paid for, 20% on a NEW home paid for, school paid for, two 25k cars paid for, and have the dosh to decide to take a last minute extremely expensive trip to NYC two days before New Year's Eve like them and most other people I know. It's not about keeping up with the Jones's, but it sure gets tiring watching the Jones's do major thing after major thing without lifting a finger or opening the wallet. More than that it's probably the ripple effect of how it sets them up and will continue propping them up twenty years down the road compared to someone who'll be paying student loans til they are almost 35 trying to catch up to the rest of the world. Hell I didn't even have a wedding when I got married a month ago; why spend $15k+ we didn't have? Even if we did have it, there's plenty of other places it would've went instead, like a house downpayment or paying down student loans. *shrug*

Puma, it's also possible that there are a few liars in these threads. Some of them may not own the cars at all, others are just posting pictures of their parents' cars.

But remember this is a Mac forum. Macs aren't cheap computers and they're pretty popular with posers too, so we're naturally going to end up with some rich ****s in here showing off their cars.

It's up to you to see through that, and see the fact that there are some interesting cars in this thread (particularly at the bottom of page 1...), and they often cost considerably less than the ones people are trying to impress us with.

Jeez, what a bunch of whining haters. The thread is "Picture of your car." If you don't like what people post it's dead simple to Unsubscribe, but don't pigeon hole people with nice cars as "rich ****s."

I find that offensive and completely immature.

I completely agree with that. I for one am not a poser nor do I drive a nice car that belongs to Mommy or that Mommy paid for. I drive a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis LS that has fading clear coat. I use a Mac because I like the OS. It's about damn time that someone put some of these spoiled brats in their place.

Why don't more of you guys post pics of your cars instead of talking about how much you hate people with Audis and BMWs? I'd like to see a Grand Marquis (or was that a Marauder?) with a clean engine bay going on and maybe some love.

Or you could take a pic of it dirty.. or from inside.. or with a full trunk (or a trunk of thrown-around-goods-after-a-nice-fun-drive-home like I did).

Get off your soapbox and dish up something. Yes, this forum is choked full of people that bought a $1200 13" laptop that has the same specs as a $400 HP laptop. No doubt, they will be people that also own $50,000 cars that have the same specs as a $25,000 car. lol :D

If I was to get a second car? Maybe an S5 convertible. I think I'd still be too tempted to get a Challenger SRT8. The 300C has just been that good. Of course, by the time I go car shopping again (probably in another 5 years), we might not have any cars left to buy with ICEs, nevermind a V8. :\ Thing is, I wouldn't get rid of the 300 for anything >> So I'll have to get a bigger garage someday.

I didn't pigeonhole anyone as anything. I just pointed out that it's likely to happen that _some_ people will post in here only to show off, though that number is few. Pretty much all of the people in the thread are here because they love cars, and it's obvious from the way they talk about their cars. It's a forum for expensive things, some people are going to have expensive cars.

Personally, I've already shown that I own an old rusty £1500 car, but that's only because I'm a student. I'd love an Ampera (UK Volt) when I get a decent job, but they've priced them stupidly high in the UK, so it'll probably be something like a TDCi Fiesta or C30 DRIVe while I take my car off the road to fix it up.

One of my favorite episodes of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson refers to the Fiesta's green version and says "It will almost certainly be ****"

It's one of my favorite episodes for that mall chase though. :D

I'd totally consider a Fiesta. Diesel! Heck yea! Just not the green version. XD

Sure you did. I quoted you on it.

I guess I'm bad. I posted my car to show it off. I also detail it from the ground up every Spring and Fall for the European Car Show and the All British Car Show where I ...show it off.

Look back a few pages and you will see a Grand Marquis. It's no Marauder, but it gets the job done. From what I've seen, my car is the only Grand Marquis/Crown Victoria on any iteration of this thread.

I had a 92 Ford Crown Vic 2 up till 2 years ago. I was so stoked to sell it to the gov't for $1000 to have it crushed. :D I really see nothing in Fords except the Ford GT40 and Ford GT. All others can cease production for all I care  Just IMO.:apple:

Anyway 2 more weeks till I AutoX my E30 for the first time. Woot! Won't have slicks this round though...

I like Fords. OTOH, I don't get why BMW is such a great brand? Their car designs are mostly ripoffs of older American cars.

Since it's the acceptable thing in society I've decided to be a conformist and get a BMW of some sort when I get a decent engineering job someday and buy another car.

One of the weird things about Crown Vics, btw: The last ones (2002-ish+?) were updated to have higher side frame rails and rack and pinion steering. They were not the same boaty cars as the old ones (despite having nearly the same body since the 93 Grand Marquis!) However, they ARE pretty dang bullet proof (and really cheap to keep running xD). I've seen crown vics with 500,000+ on them still being used as taxis and stuff.

Thats AWESOME!!!!! What year is yours? Mine is a '97 LSi

P.S. I LOVE the color. Laguna blue? :)

94 LSi for mine. She needs a decent amount of body work (big fat dent on drivers side rear corner, roof was obviously resprayed by someone who didn't know how and its got small chips and nicks all over), but everything that matters works beautifully. I'm ok with the body being ~5.5/10-6/10 because the interior is flawless, and it's had the 4.44 transmission installed along with the quick shift ECU, so its a pleasure to drive :)

And yes, Laguna Blue is the color :)

OMG SO MANY NSX!!! Were there any Type R NA2?!?
Sweet cars.
As far as I know, there aren't any genuine Type R NSXs in the US at all. The closest were the 1999 Zanardi cars which were the equivalent of the JDM Type S.

But, there are a lot that have been made to look and perform like a Type R. Everything from the just the spoiler and badges to whole interiors, wheels, suspension and weight reduction programs. One guy even had his targa roof car converted back into a fixed roof car. Very cool build, that was.

Check this thread out and be amazed.
