At AutoClub Speedway in Fontana enjoying a HPDE:
As it was my first time there I didn't want to push it, but learn the course and make sure I was safe, but I did do about 130mph in turn 1 and 2, but decided it wasn't worth the risk just yet, and instead pushed the rest of the track where the walls were further away at slower speeds. I do now need new brakes ;-)

Glad you like it, but personally that model is downright the ugliest Mini made. I also really hate when companies use so much plastic for the bodywork, and show it, such as those wheel arches.

I like his Mini, except for the coupé part. It looks kinda strange IMO but besides that, it looks awesome. The wheel arches have a nice contrast from the orange.

2012 MINI Coupe S :)

Looks great! As you can see from a couple of posts earlier, I'm a MINI fan and had an '03 MC before my '06 MCS. When I do get a car again, I'd like another - although I hate what they did with the dash starting with the '07. Also don't know if I could give up the back seat / cargo area for a coupe. But it does look nice :)

In looking at new cars, I like the direction some companies are going with the Nav / music of using your phone as the brains. I looked at the Chevy MyLink (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MyLink) which mostly just uses their screen to control and get data from your phone. It seems so much smarter and cheaper and stays up to date - unlike the expensive - and always out of date (and no traffic) Nav system on my wife's 2010 Honda Insight. They rip you off every year or two for a DVD with updated map info which is already missing new streets and stores in my area by the time they ship it.

Anyone have the MyLink or the GMC Intellilink version? Any info on how they work with SIRI? Anyone going to point me to a more appropriate forum :)

I'm not a mini fan at all (decade now of pretty much the same thing) but I think the coupe is the best looking one.

The Clubman is god-awful HIDEOUS though IMO. Then again, pretty much every single Mini built looks exactly the same to me.

I agree with you on all the gaudy plastic, I hate cars that have unpainted black plastic, especially along the bottom. The Mini wheel arches do cheapen the look of the car quite a bit IMO.

I would much rather see her like this then on the back of a flatbed like she was a couple days ago. It was a bad couple days, so it was soooo nice getting her back yesterday. I had to take a picture. I only had my iPhone and it was getting dark as you can tell. Kinda grainy, but I like it. I might take it out tomorrow for some real pictures.

Fuel pump?

I was really looking into getting a second hand 135i. Love the car so much. But I've read that people have had far too many issues with the fuel pump... BMW has pretty much scarred me for life with my Mini aswell.

The fuel pump is the achilles heel of the N54/N55 engines, but that wasn't the problem with this one. The Main Relay went bad, so it wouldn't start. The dealership didn't know why it went bad, but they did take care of me. They covered towing, a rental (they were out of loaners), and covered everything under warranty. I got the car back the next day.

My car after I got to work one day in the parking garage. My car is the one made by Honda with a VTEC engine and a flappy-paddle gearbox. In the Car and Driver lane-change test it was faster than a Ferrari F430 Spider F1 and was recommended on Top Gear in a 3-car shoot out back in Series 6 so I'm pretty happy with it. Apparently Top Gear producer Andy Wilman even drives one.

Sorry about the NSX in the picture; couldn't quite crop it out. :D

Yeah, I had fun with my co-workers when I bought it, too. Mentioned all the "facts" about it; one guy is just chomping at the bit and is asking "What on earth did you buy?!?" thinking it's going to be some freaky sports car only to tell him a Honda Fit (or a Honda Jazz for you folks outside Japan and the Americas). I do find the fact that a sub-compact has paddle shifters to be quite humorous. That said, I've had many co-workers ride it in and be quite impressed with it for as small and budget of a car as it is and my son thinks it's fancier than his grandpa's BMW 3 series (E46).

Here's another shot I snapped of it with the phone while on the Merrimac Ferry.
