I think the HP is okay as is. But it needs more torque. I've read people trying to turbo it and it saw little to no benefit. No real increase in performance.

Heres the way I see it with this car.

0-4k RPM it has enough guts to get you around nice and quickly
4-5k RPM, torque dip
5k RPM FUN TIME. It really kicks up in the upper revs :) .

Now I've driven fast cars... very fast cars. This is plenty fast for the streets. Its not like I'm going to race it anywhere. Its just an absolute blast to drive!

Heres my 86 GTS (next to my work car... its HELL driving that thing after this!). Posted last year but worth a second I think ha.

early 2000's civic though, probably not worth it in the eyes of an insurance company depending on mileage.

Its a 2004 Civic sport. 75K on the clock.

The repair quote is £4400, and the car is valued as a private sale at £3700, normally when the quote is more than half the value of the car, over here the insurance company will write it off as a Category D

Cat D: Economically unjustifiable to repair, but not structural damage
Cat C: Slight Structural Damage
Cat B: Totally screwed
Cat A: Someone probably died in the collision, was cut out, fire etc...

You got T-Boned? At a toll booth? Or Tunnel?

Its my car. We've got a lot of problems with foreign lorries, as we have right hand drive cars and they have left hand drive cars.

So when they want to pull out to overtake they can't see very well whats down the right hand side of them, by law they're meant to have extra mirrors so they can see but quite a lot dont. This guy did have the extra mirrors but didnt check them properly, he just could see me as he pulled into the next lane over to overtake. I watched something about it on tele the other day and apparently 1/3rd of all crashes on UK roads between a UK car and a foreign Vehicle happen this way. Its becoming a lot more common because the number of foreign vehicles, mostly polish, latvian, romanian, slovakian, slovenian etc has increased 10 fold in 4 years. The dude who hit me was slovakian. A lot of them dont really know UK HGV laws either, so are overloaded with weight etc.

Sorry to hear that man, I have driven some in Japan and I know what you mean. Japan drives on the same side of the road as you, but it's common to see foreign vehicles with the steering wheel on the left. If the driver is in a vehicle where he sits to the far side of the road, they need to be careful.

I have a random question, Did any one install a "clear bra"/paint protection film on their car's? I was thinking about installing it on my soon to be new car.

Thanks!

Over the last 20 years I've had pretty much everything from the biggest hoopties to classic 50's to the latest luxo and sports offerings from the Euro guys and the only thing I have kept from 1997 to now has been my truck. I just love everything about it. It's fun, cheap to own, and has never had a major issue in 16 years. Never overheated, never broken down. Can't ask for any more than that. 160,000 miles and still runs like new. Just did the timing belt and head gasket so it should be good for a long time. :)

I too had a '97 Ranger...black on gray, 4 banger 2wd auto, regular cab but it had the little nicer/bigger tires on it being an XLT...bought it in 2001 with 48k miles for the ridiculously low price of I think $6500...fantastic little truck, bulletproof and dirt cheap to own...a shame they quit making small trucks.

I was referring to the initial acceleration and the lag I experienced. Once it gets going it's fine though. I can say the same for the e90 I have. On the highway, it's great. I test drove the new 328i and it's an amazing car except for the engine cutting off when you're stopped (I think you can turn off that feature though). Aside from that, it's an amazing car.

What would be the problem? Vette's hard to handle in the snow?

I've driven high HP RWD vehicles through the winters for many years, daily drove a 450rwhp 05 GTO for years. I'm not worried about the snow but when you're wrenching under it after a few winters of salt and other nasty **** spraying all over the bottom of the car, dealing with rusted and corroded parts and bolts is not fun.

I now have a garage and a few other vehicles so I have the option to not put the vette through that so I take it. If I didn't have that stuff tho it would be out there with snow tires on.

My 2013 Santa Fe Turbo

I made it 6 winters with my 2008 Scion tC but I was ready for something a little larger that could handle the snow and my longer commute to work. I traded in the tC and decided on the Santa Fe after many test drives at various dealerships.

Salt is the likely the problem. It sickens me to see people driving their sports cars in the salty slush that is on Wisconsin roads.

I totally understand people's concerns about salt, mud, dust, heavy rain, dirty roads...
And before you know it, the sports cars only come out euhm... when exactly?

I've happily driven my sports car all Winter, no matter the temperatures going low as -10°C and with my roof top open (unless snow was falling). Let's hope a few runs through the pouring rain in Spring will wash away the salt :D
