Nice to meet you andy, I'm andy too. :D

Are you sure you wana see lots of people there on open day? I personally need to drive down the M1 early in th morning to make it there at 9am. I persoanlly dont want to see too many people turn up cos I want my T-shirt!!

Hey andy :)

Yeah, I don't mind! It's the first 1000 people, and let's be honest, most of Northern Ireland have very little idea about Apple beyond the iPod; I reckon we're safely enough in the first 1000!

I'll be down very early just for interests sake, I'll be too excited to sleep lol. Don't really know why I'm going, I've just started uni and am broke! Will be loving the t-shirt though :)

Well I'll see you all in the queue. I'm thinking of getting there about 6am or so, but if it is anything like the iphone 3G queue for victoria square the security staff will make us queue outside of the shelter of the shopping centre until 7am or so before letting us shift our chairs/selves in. So I would advise if you are planning an early start, you bring an umbrella just in case (it is Belfast after all!).

T-shirts and a draw....I'm still hoping for apple lucky bags but that's probably being overly optimistic.:apple:

Mate! It'll not take 30mins to walk from Europa to Victoria Square! 15mins will do it. Oh, and I'll be taking pics, so I'll post them here :)

Jarod, I'll be there from 6am or so too :)

There was a few of us there very early but the bulk of people didn't turn up until about 7 or 8 am. By the time the doors were opening there was maybe 50-60 people in the queue. I would imagine the numbers will be a bit larger for this.

I can't wait....my shopping wish list is getting larger and larger (and less and less affordable/probable!) in my head by the minute!

See you all there

Ohohohohoh I am SO excited now.

I busto'd my full tilt account last week, and last night entered a lil $2 tourny for the craic, and ended up coming 1st / 187 runners for $110, so now I can buy a keyboard and mouse, for free really :D

Better still, won a £20 amazon voucher today at uni, though I can't use it tomorrow obv :(

I can't waiiiiit!

Impressive store, I didn't realise Apple had so many fans in Northern Ireland! Picked up a Keyboard and Battlefield 2142 while I was there, along with the free T-Shirt. I'm really glad Apple finally have a presence in Northern Ireland, it's been a long time coming!

I used to work on York St (about 10 years ago) and walked along Church Lane every day to and from work. There was nothing like this then.

Of course, there are three Apple Stores within 15 minute's drive of me right now, and another five or six within an hour's drive, so I'm not really missing anything.

Edit: so all you got was a T-Shirt? I remember when Apple offered grab bags at store openings.

It was a great day :)

Plinden, Apple generally only offer grab bags at flagship stores and other very large store openings, iirc. I could be wrong.

I'm bloody happy with a t-shirt, though! The staff were super friendly; one said that although they were all pumped up by managers before we came in, they really were that excited. That said, at least one of the videos on youtube of a store opening have exactly the same high fives and screaming, so it's most likely store opening policy; I loved it, personally. Once the reality of hitting Applecare targets sets in, who knows, but the staff were great; very helpful.

My second visit was a few hours later, when I went to get Leopard (I know! Only getting it now, shocking :) ) and the fella who greeted me at the top of the stairs, and another who'd served me, both remembered me. Little things count.

I'll definitely be back; hell, I'd visit a Dell store if it meant not having to following the gf around House of Fraser :)

Im still on 10.4.11, not gona get leopard till i get my hands on the revised mini (if they are not being drop by apple then).

The store is great, but too crowded this morning, the air in the store was getting pretty stuffy from all the customers. Need to go there some other times, probably get my hands on the new nanos if I get my alpine ipod head unit sold. :D

So true; it was almost unbearably hot in there. One of the staff mentioned the air conditioning had had an easy time of it recently, and needed to get used to it :p

I've just completed the leopard install; doing it on my dads mac now. At first glance, it doesn't appear groundbreakingly different..?

@allmine: I take it that you are one of the first patch of people that was let into the store? I made it there at 8:35 this morning and was "lucky" to have gotten to the very back of the top line, and the people behind me had to start queueing up at the lower level. I was gona see if anyone was using the iphone app iFob but sadly I was too far away from Apple's wifi range at the start.

Oh and, I got ONE apple staff who came to hi5 me, all the others turned back before they reach the end of the line.
