The DNGs from Firstlight has a huge dynamic range and it does stack frames, so it is easy to make the photos brighter in post processing if that is wanted. Like this:
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max (Filmic Firstlight, 1x, 24mm, 0.02s, f/1.7, ISO 125, 48.77MP)
I admit that that does look pretty good. I guess I can give firstlight another shot. I just don’t like the fact that it mixes raw with heif. it’s not a huge inconvenience, but I would rather it just save my ProRaw file to my camera roll. Since I have the Filmic Pro app, they offer this firstlight app for me at no charge, but I’m not sure exactly where you find it to stack photos. Will you be able to point that out to me? I’ve gone over all of the advanced settings in the app, it’s pretty basic, but I didn’t see a whole lot of options there for me to make the changes that I wanted.
Also, the Firstlight app seems a little bit complex, not that it’s difficult, it just takes a while to navigate through everything and take a shot. Third-party apps are excellent for hard selecting the cameras so you can do more with them and have full control over each one to get the photo you want. The native camera app will automatically switch cameras if you get too close or if it won’t focus, or if lighting conditions are too dark, etc. since Apple has made significant changes in the quality of their photos, I am using the native camera app more often than I used to. I will switch to a third-party app when I need to manual focus or adjust my shutter, speed, etc., until then I’ll stick with the native Camera app and edit in Lightroom
