The Note 8 flies and unless Samsung vindictively slow it down in the future with an 'update' it will continue to fly. In late 2018 some flagships may open websites a third of a second faster but do people really drop £1k for such miniscule improvements? We are almost at the point even with the Note 8 where daily use is as fast as we need it to be. Only things like boot times and game loading could be improved upon but I don't care for that in the slightest.
It is quite an interesting time we are in at this point indeed hey.
These phones now have more RAM than some laptops, incredibly powerful yet efficient CPUs + GPUs that can run a desktop OS decently and the Internal Memory is creeping towards laptop territory to with a few hitting 512GB internal memory.
I think over the next 2-3years we will see more niche devices like the Galaxy Note, ASUS ROG Phone, BlackBerry Key² etc... As the internal hardware becomes more stagnant and the OEMs have to start better Differentiating themselves in other ways.
Now that I think about it, Samsung did a brilliant thing by creating the Note line, it's as if they knew at some point they would really need to differentiate.
Watch Apple make an iPhone Pro or something with Pencil support or some sort of Gaming smartphone.
Differentiation is going to become the name of the game now going forward, can only talk about CPU, GPU, RAM, Memory etc improvements for so long.
