lol @GrumpyMom that one is hilarious! sorry to hear about your troubles with FedEx. Nothing is more frustrating than waiting for a new toy and changing plans to be home to sign for it only for them to say, eh maybe not today.

As for clear cases, I'm using the ESR case for now. It's TPU so it's a fingerprint / oil magnet (as are all clear cases) but it's going on 2 months and no yellowing yet.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H848Y5P/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also using the ESR clear case and it is fantastic. It's the slimmest clear case I've found. Very grippy (subjective, I know), doesn't stick to the back of the phone due to micro dots (no blotches or pressure marks), covers all buttons, and a barely visible logo on the bottom right.

I didn't even notice the logo until you mentioned it just now haha

I am here at the parking lot of the school. Of course FedEx arrived to my house as I was exactly in the middle of my commute here. Fortunately GrumpyDad stopped by the house on the way to go to his mother’s place to attend to errands for her. He signed for it. Yay! Lol @slitherjef and I getting them near the same time. Are we neighbors.

Main line replacement or bust. It's a disservice to the device and yourself if used for anything but your main line. :D

It has been my main line for 2 months with an iPhone XS seeing almost no use.

Home now, traffic was good today. Yeah I think main line would be the best thing to do. Let it shine.

IMG_20190125_155820.jpg

I have to charge it. It doesn't have much charge. It had some marks on the glass when I took the plastic off. I had to scrub at them a bit with my glass cleaning cloth. Not quite as pristine as most of my iPhone and Samsung unboxings have been.

I'm thinking main line also but with a wrinkle... If CDMA is going to go away and my contract with Sprint is over and I like playing musical phones, why not just port my main line back to at&t onto the secondary line?

I went to sprint for slightly better building penetration at work but other then that, it's almost redundant to have it...

Just opened the box and unwrapped... Slippery!

Updating:)

Lol yeah I am sitting here now trying to decide if I start off with my Android Sim from my Pixel 2 or go ahead and take the sim out of the iPhone. I'm probably going to wait for my husband to get back from helping his mom. He's probably going to have me start with the sim that's in the Pixel 2.

The new silicone case is nice, but I feel it's not really Pixelly without a little sweater so I think I'll get the fabric case that's like the one little Snowball has been wearing. I'll use the silicone when I am doing something that's likely to get it dirty. Like hiking.

Edit: Yay I was able to get the fabric case for free from Amazon and if they don't botch the delivery I can get it tomorrow .I had some rewards points I applied to it.

Updates-palooza o_O:eek:

---

Finally got the system updates done, now to work on apps. Screen looks nice. I'm not a fan of the gesture navigation already...

The notch? Ugh, I suppose it's not a huge deal (pun intended I suppose) they could have done without it imho, to me it was "just because everyone (apple!) was doing it..."

Got to run it through it's paces.

And I know some of you are thinking it... It is a pixel...

Seems like Google has been on the redundancy kick lately, I mean at least 3 ways to get to assistant  hold home, squeeze or hey Google
I be sqeezin’!

Updates were fast. Now apps for me. I’m using my Android second line sim for now until we are sure the display won’t trigger migraine problems. For now I’m letting Google have it’s wicked way with my data.

I had to take my usually trusty Supershieldz display protector off. The screen wasn’t registering touch properly. It figures, that was the easiest installation of my life. Hmph.

My husband tried it on his Pixel and it didn’t work right on his either. I may let it go nekkid. Don’t know yet.

The ESR case I got is pretty nice. It's really thin however so if you are into armor, this is not for you. I got it mostly for grip, reminds me of the flimsy ones I liked back in the n5 days. I've been looking for a case like this one.

It might be a few days before I get the XL 3 into rotation. Still trying to figure out the lineup

I don't like the gesture navigation. I didn't like the onscreen navigation from Oreo, either. I think gesture navigation is probably the way to go but I would prefer Google get it right the first time instead of the current weirdness.

I prefer iPhone's gestures almost entirely to the Android Pie gestures. I say almost only because a number of Apps on iPhone can't seem to hide the line at the bottom of the screen properly.

I’m comfortable with the Google gesture navigation, but only because at this point of using three different phones on three different OS’es, my brain is a hot mess. I will poke and swipe until something happens and I am happy when it does. In other words I’m not particularly discerning. Get back to me when and if I’ve settled more heavily into one phone and I will probably be much more particular.

I’m still getting things set up because I took a break for some family time.

My husband surprised me with an order of the Pixel stand. :D He said he was ordering something for his Pixel but it was really for mine. Very sweet! So that’s coming on Sunday.

I’m really liking this phone so far. It’s got a few days to earn the Snowball name. Please please please don’t give me a migraine! That’s one test it has to pass.

Thank you! Whoa I am using night mode for this forum. It looks so cool! ooooooooo!

So far I'm encouraged in that I can't discern any flicker and everything, most importantly all text is easy to focus on. I have a little strain when I try to focus on print on an iPhone x series display. So I'm cautiously optimistic.

My wrist is greatly appreciative that this phone is considerably lighter than the iPhones Xr.

I am loving the generous screen real estate for typing. It is not a bright screen compared to my others, but then again that is easier on my eyes. Auto brightness is a bit um, enthusiastic, I guess is the way to put it. But I notice it's calming down as I use the phone. I'll see how it goes, but I may end up turning it off. I'm just using the stock keyboard, which I have always liked.

I wish the display were more sensitive as my Pixel 3 works with my touchscreen gloves without a screen protector, but as soon as I install a screen protector it stops responding with the gloves on but works fine with bare hands. My iPhone 8, on the other hand, works fine with the same gloves even with a screen protector.

One option is to go nekkid with it, but as the Pixel 3 isn’t officially sold here, also repairing a broken screen is a bit more complicated.

I’ve noticed that the Pixel 3 and my S9+ give me the exact same issues with screen protectors causing reduced sensitivity. But on the Samsung, there’s a setting to adjust the display responsiveness to accommodate screen protectors—not that it works all that great, but at least it’s there. Of course the S9+ also has a pronounced curve to accommodate. I ended up going bare screened on the S9+ but I use their flip cover case.

I'm using it. I haven't noticed any real difference with my device, honestly. Are you having an issue?
No, just checking because I want to run it but I've heard before or read before of some people running into problems with various apps in the past on other phones when trying to use any kinds of battery optimization settings.
[doublepost=1548528797][/doublepost]I'm doing photo comparisons indoors taking photos of my cat on a table in front of a window. Lol, so far my Samsung S9+ took the nicest photos with perfect exposure and contrast and dynamic range. But I realized that's with leaving it full auto and not touching to focus on the subject in the pixel. Still for point and shoot the S9+ was amazing in challenging lighting. My Xr also did beautifully but the details in the cat's fur were just not present.

The 3XL photos displayed too much contrast and sharpening.

Unfortunately the cat left before I could take another set of comparison photos. This particular cat moves a lot. I need to go find my laziest cat. :D

So far, keeping in mind this is earliest impressions, I like 3XL as an overall device the best.

What I really am happy about is all three of my current phones are all so good that it's just little amenities separating them...for me personally, keeping in mind I'm a stay-at-home mom and not a business power user concerned with enterprise requirements and access to file systems.
