To those with a pixel 3, what's your power button like to press?

My replacement device has a much softer button than the first device I had did. Almost feels like there's more travel when pressing before it works...

Mines nice and clicky but does have a little wobble to it. You're not the first person I've heard complain about their power button on a Pixel device. If it's going to bother you, RMA it.

Just got a ship notice! Got a few days before I decide if I want to slap my fi sim card in, cancel fi and use the phone to replace my s7e on sprint, or use the secondary line we have on AT&T.

I am kind of leaning towards keeping fi. Unless my XL 2 makes a recovery.

Bigger question pertains to rooting. Seems like I have a lot of trouble with my XL 2 and updates...

What color did you go with and any plans for a case?

128gb clearly white. I did think about the not pink one also but the white looked sharper. Will probably grab a clear case off Amazon or something
I thought about getting the pink one, too, but I liked the green power button and white phone combo. I thought the black one looks so sleek. But I didn’t want to get it mixed up with my husband’s phone. We both tend to leave our phones on the kitchen counter and I can see one rushed morning one of us grabbing the wrong phone.

So I went with Easter pastels. I also got a notification about shipping. We shall see if it actually comes this week. The one I ordered my husband was delayed for about two weeks.

The not pink model is really weird looking. It's really an off white. You would almost have to have the white next to it to see the difference.

It’s a subtle elegant color. I’m used to a more quirky look for Pixels. I like it but favor pure white a bit more.

I've rooted almost every Android phone I've owned all the way back to the original (Tmoblile G1). But since Nougat I would say, there's just no reason to anymore. The features are all there in stock android, its stable for the most part, performance is there. I just don't see the need. The only benefit now would be system wide ad blocking.

I can block all ads with apps like blokada or adguard without root.

Picked a couple clear cases (read "cheap") off Amazon this afternoon. One was an ESR Essential Zero Case and the other my standard Spigen Liquid Crystal to see which one I like better. Speaking of which, My XL 3 is due in Thursday if fedex tracking can be believed and cases Thursday or Friday depending how they ship.

I’m pretty excited. I hope we both get really good phones!

I’m going to dive right in and make it my main phone. It will get to keep the job if I don’t get any health problems from the display and if it works as well as my husband’s Pixel 3XL has for him so far.

Back in the Pixel camp haha. Took advantage of Best Buy's instant $300 off the 3XL. No QC issues that I can find so far. I like my OP 6T but couldn't resist getting the 3XL for $600. Dome Glass screen protector and ESR clear case promptly ordered! Hopefully I won't run into any battery problems.

Same here. Not sure if you read any of my posts in the XL 2 thread but I had problems with updating my replacement since I got it. So, this (deciding between calling it "notchzilla" or "Crystal" depending if it wants to be a monster or not :D...) will probably be my Fi line. My OnePlus 6 might become my new tinker toy because I kinda don't care if I break it. Still deciding on the main line.

If I can get my XL 2 (which is on fi) working again, I may use the XL 3 for my main line (s7e replacement).

It is going to be hard not to root, but seems like its a huge PITA.

Exciting! After a week or two, I'd love a comparison and thoughts between the two devices!

Battery problems aren't one of the more common compliants with the Pixel as far as I've heard. My battery life is pretty solid, granted it'll probably works than you're used to on the 6T due to battery size and screen resolution.

The 3XL has very good battery life, but that's expected for a phone that size. The Pixel 3 is not quite where it needs to be, IMHO, but it's still day long phone which really is what matters.

How would you say it compares with the Note 9 for battery life?

Don't know what you mean, but ok.

With root, ad blockers work by modify host files directly to block ads. Has no impact on battery and very little if any impact on phone performance.

Without root, ad blockers use a local VPN. This can slow down the device because all traffic is routed through the VPN and because it's local it will affect performance and battery to some degree.

I haven't used the Note 9, only the Note 8. But I would say the Note 9 probably has better battery life than the Pixel 3 XL and probably close to the same as the 6T.
