Not been using my 6 Pro but have just downloaded Android 13 now. I did have the beta on it from last week but only played around with it briefly. I like the larger selection of colours to 'theme' your device with based on the wallpaper.

Not crazy on the music card in notification tray. I don't know why, just doesn't look great IMO.

Ah I think it’s amazing. Wish Apple would copy that. Lol

Another PSA: this for those individuals who don't feel like waiting for 13.

If you're on 12 and don't see an OTA for 13 or when you try hitting the "check for update" button and prompts you to upgrade to 12 🙄 then opt in beta. Once you opt in you'll immediately see an OTA for 13. Just don't forget to opt out after you've updated.

Otherwise, ignore what I said and continue waiting for Google to push the update. Hopefully it's out very soon.

If you don't want to wait, sideloading the OTA Android 13 update (not factory image) is EZ PZ and doesn't require unlocking bootloader nor wiping data. You'll need to download OTA update for your phone model, Google USB drivers and ADB tools linked below.

This is my preferred method for updating... Using terminal on my Mac all the commands are remembered and I only have to update the name of the zip file for the monthly which I rename before I place in my Android folder...

Had my SIM back in my 6 Pro the last couple of days and really enjoying it.
Phone runs super silky, finger print scanner has had absolutely no issues at all. Much improved over when it came out.

Not really noticing anything from an Android 13 perspective. Just the music player.

But overall, the phone is now a really solid device, what it probably should have been when it came out. This is my worry with the 7. Are we going to go through a load of bugs before it eventually smooths itself out?
Id be surprised if not.

Anyway, at least it's all good now!

Well I finally caved and applied that method and it worked

Thanks for sharing

At I first I did not like it either but later on I got used to it. Now, it seems fun. You know "fun" is something thats been missing in our OS since the flat and strict design.

I say Pixel software is like aged wine. It gets better with time.

Its looks like A13 was just a stable update. There's noting wrong with that.

I agree I'm not saying I wanted more from Android 13, but it would have been nice to be able to remove At a Glance!! Maybe in 14. 😑

Have you seen this video? I'm not a fan of this guy, but I'm desperate for some pixel 7 leaks, do my eyes deceive or those pixel 7 pro bezels look uniform? Also the sides look not so curved this time.

I want a good screen on the standard pixel 7 this time and a good ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on both phones, please google :(

The new 7/7 Pro look very nice. But on vacation I barely used my 6 Pro. However, the 6 Pro got night shots that my S22 Ultra and all of the various iPhones including my husband’s 13 Pro Max made a mess of.

The challenge was to get a photo of the moon shining down on the ocean without turning the scene into something resembling day, or a noisy mess. iPhone turned the moon into the sun and made it look like daylight. If changing the exposure it got noisy. Same with the S22 Ultra. The Pixel 6 Pro nailed it.

But the photos then disappeared! I took about 4 of them and immediately couldn’t find them among my pictures. Finally I found them in a gallery by themselves and I didn’t have time to figure out what was going on. Lol and then I forgot all about it until now in the back to school scramble.

Editing to add I am really just more focused on what’s going on with iPhones right now. Having recently bought a MacBook Air, and dealing with the other school moms who are all on iOS, I’m just narrowly focused on iOS right now.

Got Android 13 today on the 4a.

Reading about it after it installed, it don't sound like anything major. Just some added features I may or may not use. Themed icons for example, I think they are boring.

Yeah that showed me pretty much nothing lol...... Well except it said the seven will have wireless charging.

I'm more concerned with price but I do like that the 7 is a little smaller than the 6 and I would be getting that one over the Pro. I never get the Pro or Ultra versions.

I forget where I read it but someone has likened Android 13 to Marshmallow where Google decided to cleanup many of the bugs from the previous release. My big contention with the themes is that Google still did not carry that over to the app draw. It would have been nice to see that because most of Google’s core apps now blend in with one another because they now mostly use Google’s trademark four color scheme.

That’s why I decided to keep my 4a and 4a 5G because they are smaller phones vs the Pixel 6.

Not sure why, but the battery on my 6 Pro isn't doing great. Since putting my SIM back in, I've not managed a single day (weekday or weekend) where I've not had the battery die before bed time. I'm currently on 6% and have been working today and been out playing tennis for 2 hours after work.

It's a little disappointing but I don't remember it being this bad. Anyone else having issues with theirs?

If you don't need 5G, make sure it did not get enabled with Android 13. Also check for the obvious if there's an app that's draining the battery.

Yeah they’re multiple threads about battery drain on Google Pixel reddit page.

One culprit was the Samsung Health app/ services which seemed to increase battery usage in the background. At first, people were told to restrict the app but that didn’t help either. Once uninstalled, usage returned to normal.

Otherwise, the consensus with battery performance on a13 stable so far has been subpar. And thats compared to a12 w/ july patch and a13 beta 4xx.

Personally, I was seeing much better battery performance on a13 stable compared to beta. More consistent too. Similar to a12 with july patch.

Make sure nothing is running in the background too. Be vigilant about checking bc when I was on beta and reporting about terrible battery life, i had a VPN from DuckDuckGo running in the background. Once I finally turned that off, battery life became more consistent.

Anyway hope that helps but my SIM is back in my 13 pro max currently.

Thanks both - good suggestions.
I forgot about the 5g thing. I've knocked it off, as I don't have 5g in my area so it's completely pointless.

Also, I am wondering if it has something to do with WhatsApp. I have a problem where the back up of my old chat is stuck on 'restoring media' and has been since swapping sims over. It's on 4% and will not go over it. I've tried uninstalling the app, reinstalling, but every time it sticks on 4%. All the trouble shooting has been useless, asks to update the app or the phone but neither actually need updating.
The only solution is to factory rest the phone, which I will not be doing but I am wondering if something is happening in the background where that is causing battery drain.

I bought a pixel 6 to keep as a spare phone on a trip that i am on.

It is pretty wild how buggy, and unreliable it is as a first party google phone.

In a vacuum you may not notice, but with my s21 ultra in the other pocket it is very noticeable.

The reception is measuable worse, the battery life is mid at best. Worst of all it has been having bugs where no texts come through on either wifi or cellular (no issues on S21u).

It also fails to roam as effectively. When we first got off the plane, no amount of fiddling with setting would allow it to access the mobile network.

Samsung was already connected before we landed.

I am pretty bummed. Plan was to run this thing for a few months, but it is not ready for prime time, if you are a heavy phone user.

The problem has been verified on three Pixels: 4a, 4a 5G, Pixel 6.

Android 13 broke extreme battery saver. In the past when you enabled extreme battery saver the non-essential icons would grey out because they were put to sleep. Now they don't grey out. Sometimes when you think an app is asleep and it's awake. Then there are times when you think an app isn't asleep and it is. You now have to pause them manually and prior to these, it happened automatically with extreme battery saver. Also when you charge your phone the icons don't revert back to their sleep state look because a Android disables battery saver while charging. When you unplug your phone they appear as if they have not been put to sleep.

What's even weirder is that some non-essential apps go back into sleep state and others don't.

So i'm not even sure if regular battery saver is working correctly at this point? Until Google addresses the problem it's all BS. See what I did there?
