Seen a report saying possible periscope camera. That would be a pretty big jump
I’ve been spoiled by the periscope zoom on my last couple Huawei’s and find it hard to go back. If this new top-end Pixel gets it, I’ll just sit here waiting for the pre-order date.

Sold.

(Though, honestly, I still expect to be disappointed amongst all this hype. Man I really hope they come through with a competitive, flagship-type phone with an up-to-date camera set-up.)

After the 3XL, you never know. Lol
They look like the renders and I can believe they might end up looking like that. But the white lines that separate the top part and black camera array look poorly done. And they don't look like they're actually sat in the stands. Which suggests someone took inspiration from the renders to make it look like they're on display somewhere.

That’s definitely what is. A quick Photoshop job. Nothing more.

At this point I have absolutely zero faith in Google wowing me with one of their phones. I‘ve owned a version of most of their phones going back to the Galaxy Nexus and haven’t been genuinely impressed by a single one, yet I’m a sucker of Google’s version of Android and timely updates so I kept coming back. This year was the first year I skipped outright and I have no anticipation for anything they could be offering this year. Unfulfilled promises and potential has been the name of the game so until I actually see them put out a flagship phone that genuinely competes with the competition, I’m staying away. I’m done falling for their schtick.

Kind of can't blame you. I've had faults of some sort with pretty much everything one I've had. XL 2 (which was a replacement) has been decent but last update brought some lag and bugs to it.

Last few (got an XL 4 and 3a) don't use them, they haven't brought anything to the table. 3xl bugged out badly as did the nexus 6p (probably the worst along with the galaxy nexus).

The 6 does look kind of interesting I'm a little excited but what is it bringing to the table? About the only reason I get these devices is to basically root and block obtrusive ads but it's getting to be too much work to maintain things.

Actually been looking at the s21 ultra with it's bloatware and microsoft and who knows what else. 😖

Pixel pro with periscope lens hmm makes you wonder how good their processing will be with new sensors

I hate the gloss and the possible uneven bezels.

I've noticed weaker radios in pixel / nexus devices. Could be carrier related or just my location. Also noticed they seem to favor crummy wifi over switching to lte. It's gotten somewhat better however.

Isn't it usual for phones to always choose wifi if it's switched on? Can't think of any phone I've had where it will pick a stronger, faster LTE connection when wifi is switched on.

It probably is. I mean it makes sense to opt for a cheaper connection (wifi) then paid lte. Of course it could be just the area where both are spotty at times. So in that case, phone seems to be doing what it's supposed to do 🙂

Last year's "leaks" and renders pointed at the Pixel 5 having uneven bezels too, but fortunately that didn't happen. I doubt they will go back to that, unless they reserve it for their most expensive models.

Using a samsung designed processor, no thanks.
Google designed, Samsung made, similar to older Apple chips before they switched to other OEMs. If Google didn't screw it up this year (their Pixel hardware has historically been so-so at best), the chip would be better than an Exynos (considering that leaks say they'll be on par with the Qualcomm 870) and we may finally have something (IMO) besides the iPhone that's better than the overpriced and dated-feeling things that Samsung are currently dominating the market with.

I can't find the Pixel 4 thread, so I'm posting this here:

I might be an idiot, but I just purchased the white Pixel 4 XL for a great price. I'm a little nervous since it's an Amazon Renewed phone, but I've done plenty of research and it seems like safe to buy a phone that is Amazon Renewed. I know it's an old phone, but I'm sure many of you know how much I absolutely fell in love with the white Pixel 4's design (my absolute favorite phone design ever). I bought it partly for the design and partly for my Pixel fix since I'm thinking of keeping my iPhone XS for another year or two. Also, I love that it still has squeeze for Assistant and face unlock.

My question: Is there a way to change the battery without any type of warranty?

I am not sure I like that camera bump. I also hate the rumor that the smaller Pixel 6 will only have 2 cameras. I hate big phones and I really hate being punished because of it. Apple does this with the Max and it pisses me off. Definitely looking forward to seeing how the new cameras will work with Google's voodoo processing.
