But Google might think that would give the impression their AI/Computation photography abilities are not good enough if people need to adjust things...lol. Just a thought.
Having more pro controls wouldn't detract from their class leading camera software.

So, remember the other day, Marques seemed a little bit salty in his video about the Pixels?

He and Arun, aka MrWhosetheboss made a video explaining what they've got a problem about. Arun isn't doing any coverage yet of the Pixel 6/6 Pro until he is no longer under the embargo.

Meanwhile, and unfortunately I lost it, there was a video in Chinese about the Pixels and in that video's comments section there was discussion about the display models somewhere all running very hot. The comments were run through Google translate so take that into account. Unfortunately I no longer read or speak any language other than English.

So anyway be on the lookout for the discussion of the possibility of some heat issues between now and the lifting of the embargoes. I'm not trying to spread FUD. Or rain on the party. I'm as excited and enthusiastic as ever. But we have a right to know what's going on.

Thank you to any and all reviewers who have commented here. I personally don't want to get anyone in hot water with Google so I won't be asking you questions that might violate the terms of your embargo.

But personally I agree with Arun and Marques. However, it took them a lot of time and effort to get to a place they can safely even mention such things to the public. I don't expect everyone to jeopardize their livelihood in such a manner. Unless all the reviewers can band together and act as one, the corporations will stomp each one of you out one by one. I notice the Techspurt video has been taken down and all he did was show the camera app. And somehow I don't think he cares. He was definitely giving off a cheeky vibe. Good for him!

I canceled my Pro order yesterday and just went to look at them both at BestBuy and I'm having regrets now lol

Anyone have a Pro on order they don't want? :) :(
Haha.. I had two orders in but Google shipped the buds so I can canceled the BestBuy order lol

The part of Google’s presentation dealing with their efforts at color science inclusivity apparently was very polarizing, unfortunately and I saw a lot of resentful comments in various places on it that frankly made me very sad as a “woman of color”.

For those who aren’t aware, I am biracial and multi ethnic with a mix of brown, yellow and white. Outside of winter, when I look like a desaturated corpse of indeterminate hue, my own skin is a tricky light olive tan that even my 13 Pro has turned grayish brown in one photo I shared to the forum where my hand was visible. Frankly that’s an improvement because I’ve often been turned a weird greenish yellow even by professional photographers.

The frustration for people of any color, and especially people with darker skin tones, to get good color representation is real. Many shades of blonde hair for years looked green on earlier iPhones. I’ve had white friends and family come out astoundingly pinkish red in photos. Black and brown skinned friends and family have had details of their features obliterated or their beautiful skin tones turned orange, yellow or green tinged.

So I am so excited that Google put so much effort into trying to do better for skin tones. I don’t know if this will throw off other colors in the landscape or not. I just appreciate the attempt and hope the development continues. Even conventional cameras often fail with skin tones, so this is one area where AI driven computational photography could excel.
I've never noticed this because I hate taking pictures of myself. I come out awful all the time. My complection is on the olive side, being half Honduran and white.
I will take notice of this from now on.

This YouTuber does a comprehensive unbiased comparison. Looking forward to his update with Pixel 6 Tensor.

Good video but it was comparing Google Assistant against Siri and not dictation. I think everyone is in agreement that Google Assistant is quite a bit better than Siri.

I hope the pixel 6 (standard and pro) has great front firing speakers from both top and bottom of the phone. Pixel 5 really lacked this (the top speaker was abysmal). The last few iPhones I've had and S21 ultra have set a benchmark in that department for me.

I know that it's probably not the thing that matters most to a lot of people but it does to me!

Sorry if this ends up being a double post. I thought I replied but don’t see it on here. Thank you for the photos!

That looks pretty good. I think it would probably look better on the white Pixel. But I like it. And I definitely like it better in this lighting than on the official Google page.

Well I guess it’s reassuring you liked what you saw! Good luck I do think you’ll be able to snag one. Perhaps run into Best Buy on release day.

Excellent video. Should be liked and shared by all of us.

I know there's a lot of griping on reviewers not being able to say much about the Pixel 6's until next week. But hasn't that been the norm for a while on most new smartphone launches? Didn't Apple do the same last month, the reviews couldn't go live until like a week after the big reveal?

Not saying it's right, I don't like it.

I assume it's all for marketing reasons and more clicks? And stretch out the news of the brand new product?

First week can only show and talk about the design and very minimal things. Then a week later full on reviews. Then 2 weeks later more in depth reviews. This keeps the product in social media longer.

But this is a great video, and shows us how hard these big corporations put their knees on these YouTuber's to control their product hype. Why not just show off the Pixel 6 officially on launch day, but already have the phones in the hands of these tech reviewers a week before, and let them then release their videos at will when they want, like right away, or the next day, or next week.

Yeah and there’s more to it than that, which they covered well in that vid.

This video is amazing at showing what that Cloudy (white) colour looks like. And it almost makes me regret going for sunny!
It looks stunning.

I think It’s strange that more isn’t being said about the price of this thing. I’m still pretty blown away that this phone comes in at way under £1000. I fully expected Google to pull an Apple and Samsung and price the Pro over a grand, but seriously impressed that they have undercut both of their Pro / flagship devices.

I can’t wait for Monday to get some proper reviews of these things. It’ll make the wait that little bit easier haha. I’ve never been so excited for a phone. Like a kid at Christmas!

100% agree. The Cloudy White color looks AMAZING, that's what I have on order. I'm typically a black dark color smartphone guy on all my phones, except the Nexus / Pixel, I've always bought the panda white ones. The White Nexus 6P was a stunner.

And the price of $899 is fantastic. Truly a flagship to compete with the $1,100+ iPhone 13 Pro Max and $1,000+ Galaxy S21 Ultra. Hopefully this means smartphone pricing comes down a bit next year?

While dictation on my iPhone 13 Pro is ok and very usable there is no doubt Google's is better.
Curious to try both with on-device only functions. Been impressed with the English / German translation on the iPhones recently, especially when in on-device only mode. Looking forward to playing with both the 13 Pro and the basic Pixel 6.

Pittsburgh Eh?

Love that city, I am there 4x a year, and am looking forward to my trip in a couple of weeks. I plan on hitting some usual haunts, and want to do a camera shootout with my phones downtown with some of the bridges and skyscrapers during the nights / evenings!

From another [H]ard tech site I'm on, someone made a great comment;

I preordered 2 6 pros 256gbs models today in person at Best Buy. Accordingly to the sales guy it's supposed to arrive on the 27th. I told him I thought that was a day early but that's what his computer said.

Anyway I'm not a curved screen fan myself either but after paying with both in the store you definitely want the pro model. While the screen on the 6 is okay the screen on the pro is absolutely stunning. Right on par with the latest and greatest from Samsung. You honestly won't be disappointed. Also this is not a choice between a small and big phone. The regular 6 is really not that much smaller. It's the difference between a big phone and a slightly bigger phone. Because of that I'll opt for the noticeably better screen and deal with the curved edges.

That's a great post and appreciate your point of view on the subject and agree with most of it.

I am tired of these controlled releases too, and sick of the multi-week trickling information on the phones. I knew I wanted one already, before specs were released or the phone was even shown. I was due for a new Android phone, and prefer a pixel experience over other forms of Android.

That said, I am also sick of YouTube celebrities and their often commonplace form of click-bait reviews with the same type of canned / cloned look and feel. I get that they have to keep the manufacturers happy (Google, Apple, etc) in order to keep getting review units, which makes it feel a bit antiseptic to me. Sure some do give reasonable negative opinions of some aspects, but I feel if they truly posted what was on their mind, they would be barred from reviews going forward. Also, If I never hear "comment, like, subscribe and click the bell" in my life again, it will still be too soon.

. I put 100% more stock in what people like yourself (and many more members on here and other similar forums) have to say and what you all experience and share on here. This includes reading everyone's comments and opinions on videos these YouTubers released. I get more value / entertainment reading posts than I do watching the videos LOL.

100% agree. The Cloudy White color looks AMAZING, that's what I have on order.

Cloudy white and kinda coral are the best looking colors to me. Was torn deciding between Spigen black case which I'm perfectly happy with on the S21 Ultra or the clear but not knowing how it holds up to yellowing over time I went safe and got black Spigen but feel bad for throwing a bag over its good looks.

And to think you were considering dropping your Pro oder for a regular 6 a couple days ago ;) .

I am still happy with my choice for the inferior screen product ;) .
