Sorta sunny looks good.. A little funky how the color hits the top of the phone..

It’s gorgeous and looks surprisingly good in the grey case.

Lack of a 256 gb option was the deal breaker for me on that color even though it was my first love when I first saw these phones. I thought for sure that would be the one I went for. But over time, I started liking them all pretty much equally. Stormy has the slight edge due to the black trim and how it blends into the display bezels.

As for storage, if I don’t try to replicate everything stored on my S21 Ultra onto the Pixel, 128 GB probably would have been fine. This was the one phone I had no clear idea how much storage would be ideal for my needs until more information got released.

Now that I know there’s only pixel binning and no option for the maximum megapixel photos, 128 seems sufficient.

I hear ya... I wanted 256GB myself but took what was available in black.. 128GB will be enough but I'm from the school of better to have and not need than to need and not have....

For 599 you won’t find a better point and shoot camera for the price no doubt.
Really hoping that video is greatly improved on the pixel line as well, and makes the Pixel the flagship for video recording on Android.

I have not been impressed with video on any Android phone I had an opportunity to play with in the last couple of years.

I fully expect the 6 pro to be better in the hand than the iPhone. It’s ok on the iPhone but for example the ultra was far more comfortable to hold over a long period of time.
Size wise I don’t think the 6 Pro is much different than the 13 Pro Max? Maybe a taller but it’s narrower.

And lots of people on this forum absolutely LOVE their iPhone 13 Pro Max. So the 6 Pro shouldn’t be much different.

I’m rocking a 12 Pro Max and Pixel 4 XL currently, so hopefully the Pixel 6 Pro size isn’t a big dif?

I did a direct comparison today in Vodafone (London) between the 6 Pro and my 13 Pro Max.

The 6 Pro is marginally taller than the 13 Pro Max. Exact height specs are 6.45” (163.9mm) for the Pixel 6.33” (160.8mm) for the iPhone. So taller but not that noticeable really.

However, the big factor here is the Pixel is much slimmer than the iPhone, it’s much easier to hold as a result in the hand plus the weight advantage of the Pixel helps too. Exact width specs are 2.99” (75.9mm) and 3.07” (78.1mm) for the iPhone. That is definitely noticeable. Weight-wise the 6 Pro is 7.41 ounces or 210 grams for the Pixel and 8.46 ounces or 240 grams for the 13 Pro Max. Pixel also felt thinner too than the iPhone.

The screen was also just as bright (to me) on the Pixel and seemed to pop more, possibly due to the higher PPI density.

I was impressed with the Pixel! If I can work out how to still use my Apple Watch I may swap my 13 Pro Max or just dual this year!

Price alone, the Pixel does seem to make the iPhone too expensive as two comparable flagships!

I expect it to be greatly improved, but I would still bet on the iPhone being better. Apple focuses a lot more on video while Google has clearly focused more on still photos.

Back before iPhones got stereo audio recording, I was madly fond of my s7 Edge’s recordings. The visuals were excellent and the stereo audio still to this day makes me feel like I’m back in the moment when I replay those precious recordings I took of the kids in elementary school. It took a ridiculously long time for Apple to bring such sound capability to iPhone. I do get angry and frustrated with the glacial pace at which Apple adds features to its phones. Meanwhile they’re fast to take things away.

Oddly, I’ve found all videos a bit borked with odd artifacts these days. Whether it’s on my Samsungs or my iPhones. I wonder if that’s because I switched away from 1080P to 4k 30 and 4k 60. 8k looks awful on my Samsung unless I keep the camera very still and just film one scene. I can’t pan at all. Sometimes on all phones panning introduces a lack of smoothness at 4k. I still think I got the best audio recordings of my life on that S7 Edge. And the S7, which I still have. Yay me, lol.

Interesting and good feedback.

Yeah I can't wait to test the P6!

Oof!

I hope that is either bad post-processing, or, bad YouTube compression. Colors in that video are over saturated to hell. I really don't like what I am seeing in that one bit.

Reminds me of my Yi Dashcam from 2015!

Sadly I am being serious.

I was worried it was my monitors attached to my Mac Pro at first, so I grabbed my iPad, then my Dell Laptop, then my 13 Pro and watched the same video on all. I think the color reproduction, shadow and highlight control in that brief sample is quite poor.

I really hope to see some Embargo lifted tests show much better than that. I really want to use the camera on this thing all the time if I can!

The teal sky, the contrast between the leaves & sky looks off, so does the shadow boost and being a car guy, I know what Chevrolet Victory Red should look like (truck that drove by). Just isn't what I want to see honestly!

Ordered
I haven't ordered one, but put both the red & gold on my list (the only colours available in the UK). Even though I already have 3 cases for the Pixel....

I have to agree, those colours look awful.

I didn’t realize my husband hadn’t ordered himself a case. He likes Spigen Air Armor. It’s backordered to December on EBay. I guess he thought I’d get him one for his birthday. Oops! But I thought he already got it. Sigh. Well I’ve got two Spigen cases so he can have one of mine. But so many cases, especially clear and black are backordered. The preorder must have exceeded all expectations! Especially for the case makers.

On the fence. Have an 11PM. Need to see some reviews before hopping on the 6 Pro. Either that or going 13PM. One thing I'd prolly miss is FaceID. Used to carry both an iPhone and Nexus back in the day.

It would be hard for me to give up Face ID. Not to open the phone, I like it for that but am not beholden to iOS for that. But I use it to authenticate my identity for everything. I don’t always have success with fingerprints. The old Pixel fps on the back worked great for me. The one on my S21 Ultra needs to be refreshed often. I’m sure the screen protector doesn’t help matters.

It really looks like the same color calibration that was on my Samsung S7-S9 phones. It’s very Samsung. I remember taking my S7 Edge and my iPhone 7 Plus (at least I think it was the 7 Plus) to the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic where I was, was a dark grey-green. It’s not got Hawaii’s gorgeous genuinely teal beaches. Nor the beaches of the South Pacific. It’s murky and the beauty is in the raw power of the sea and the expanse of it, but sure as heck not the color!

However, on my S7 Edge I got an idealized version with bright aqua sky and deep teal seas and golden sand. I even put the images up on Google so I could see them on my iPhone display. The colors muted a little but it was still such a shiny happy world.

I looked at my photos and videos and then looked at the real thing in front of me and laughed. If I wanted to, I could have posted that stuff on Facebook and had one of these posts: “Living my best life on the stunning beach with my gorgeous perfect family. Love and kisses to you all!🥰😘”

🤨In reality we were all stuffed into a tiny beach condo with extended family. The beach looked kind of like the world’s biggest mud puddle but greenish. Something slimy wrapped around my foot when I went swimming. Something else stung me. And nothing I ate agreed with me. And I actually was happy about all that because it was all quite amusing. But it’s not the social media-ready life, that’s for sure! 🤣. (If I remember correctly, I may have posted about it here when it happened).

I do remember at the time, I read that Samsung did colors this way because that’s what people preferred and it was for the social media pictures. Kind of crazy. But I do remember in the 80’s I liked Fujifilm better than Kodak because it did make things look bright and colorful.

Maybe Google intentionally fuzzed the cameras until release to prevent leaked pictures because that's so way off it's not even acceptable.
