I don't know what exactly your Mom is going through but my Mom with advanced dementia and Alzheimer's disease has a lot of mood issues. She has gotten better at the facility but when I was caring for her and she lived with me there was a time when I was passing a kidney stone and she wanted me to drive her somewhere and I told her I am in pain and can't drive and she just got upset and thought I was making up my condition as an excuse. Lol. It can be very challenging caring for older family members specially when they don't understand.
I am sure she will be okay and happy to see you when you can and she has a chance to cool down.
In terms of battery life the Pixel 7 Pro is okay. There are days where it seems to last forever and days where it drains a little too fast for comfort. The display resolution is a big one. When set at quad hd with around 80% brightness and doing a lot including, gaming, web browsing and navigation it can drain quickly. When resolution is set to full hd it last a lot longer and can almost be a two day phone. When I use the phone for 8 or more hours screen on time with high res I am around 20% at the end of the day. Can be a little less or more. With full hd same use case it is around 40-50% just to give an idea.
If the Tensor G3 is better in this area it will be a big deal. I would not say battery life is bad but considering the large battery it is kind of shocking how inconsistent and poor it can be. Compared to the s23 ultra it is pretty huge. Especially with quad hd on both phones and brightness looking the same side by side. The Pixel at 50% brightness and the s23 ultra at 50% brightness look a lot different. The Pixel seems very dark while the s23 ultra is nice and bright. I have to have the Pixel display turned up to at least 75% to equal the s23 ultra at 50%.
The display on the Pixel 7 Pro seems to be a battery hog and the Tensor G2 is not the best efficient processor and combined it results in mediocre battery life. I am hoping these two issues are resolved in the Pixel 8 Pro.
That being said the Pixel display is one of the best looking displays I have had on a smart phone in terms of detail, color balance, and overall look.
I did see her in person yesterday and yikes. She's also big mad because I have told her she has to stop over feeding her cat and I had to confiscate her overly tight shoes that gave her a bunion. We'd been arguing off and on about those shoes for months.
You do NOT tell the Queen anything. She tells YOU your place. 😆. Ornery I tell ya.
Fortunately I find difficult people fascinating. Nobody in my personal orbit comes across as all bad or all good. They're a fascinating mix of layers and each layer has a reason for being there.
Anyway getting back to phones, lol! I have had the decision taken away from me. I have been knocked off of the fence into Android territory. (I just saw that you saw my post over on the other topic).
I've tried my 12 mini and it's better than I expected but there is still some pain there. My 14 Pro Max is just debilitating to use for even a quick text. I don't want to use my LCD iPhones and get that annoying white flicker back at the sides of my vision, so that leaves out my iPhone 11 and my SE3.
So to Android it is. I don't know yet if it's going to be the Pixel or the S23 Ultra that gets to be the main one. Probably the Pixel. Because it's smaller and I go with smaller phones in the summer.
The trigger for my latest seizure apparently was exposure to a particular variety of mold I am very sensitive to.
So, it wasn't the iphone 14 Pro Max that triggered this, but now that I am recovering I can't use it. And it's been making me uncomfortable for some time anyway.
Unfortunately I'm not going to get to make this transition gracefully. As is the case with life for everyone, when it rains it pours, and there's another crisis with another extended family member who is older than me but has the temper and judgement and entitlement of a toddler.
And I'm starting a new medication for one aspect of my autoimmune problems. On the plus side it may help me sleep properly again if it works.
So this is going to be a clumsy ugly switch over. No grace whatsoever, especially with messages since thats already borked.
I haven't gone over to Android as my main phone since my HTC 10 and that was back in 2016.
I'll still be using 3 phones: S22 Ultra on wifi. S23 Ultra and Pixel 7a on AT&T.
There is a chance that if my nerves are still too sensitive I'll actually use the S22 Ultra as the main phone. There's 100% complete comfort on this display. I count myself extremely fortunate to have it.
I did successfully use a 12 Pro Max a couple of years ago. I might try to get a refurbished one if I really can't bear to leave iOS.
But due to that aforementioned pain in the tail extended family member, I don't really have the money to spare on that kind of purchase right now. That would be something I might consider much further down the road.
It's been quite a week. It took me forever to make this post. I started it before dinner. We turned dinner into a polka party. That's my husband's idea of a good father's day. He grilled some steaks and blasted polka music all through dinner. 🤪
