Hey all,

I've been a long-time macrumors member since before I bought my G4 Powerbook back in the day, and I finally have an app that might interest you guys. It's called Pocket Weather World with Push, and as the name suggests provides weather for around the globe, and also allows you to take advantage of push to get the current temperature or the forecast high for the day, without ever opening the app.

Some quick details:
- Push enabled so you can send the current temp or forecast high as a badge to your iPhone
- 4 unique and well designed skins
- beautiful animated icons
- Lots of weather details like temp, wind, sunset/sunrise, etc
- Summary screen where you can see lots of locations at a glance.

I won't pimp it anymore here, but if you're interested feel free to check it out:

I'm open to any feedback you guys may have about it as well. There are lots more features coming in the near future, and if you've got some suggestions then feel free to send them my way as posts on this forum, PMs or even emails...your choice.

I'd like to see an icon for the current weather, too. That would be nice! :)

Yeah that would be awesome, except that Apple doesn't allow third-party apps like ours to change the icon on the fly. They do it for their calendar app though, typical Apple ;)

Thanks for the purchase though, glad someone likes it! :D

With a policy change allowing a trial period I would try it. If I liked it, I would buy it, that's the only way though.

Cool idea, I like the usage of the badge icon.

However, I don't think I would pay more than $.99 for it.

Interested how this compares to Weather Pro before I purchase. Any comments so far on this?

There are four themes with different colors. Each theme is a completely different layout. Plus, this app has landscape viewing, too. I really like it.

Just bought the app - very nice.

One thing I noticed though. Both temps on the detailed view of a location say "min" instead of min & max...

It looks great.

Do you have plans to add radar to the world version?

NOAA Alerts i get on my phone from the tv station, so i'm not as concerned about that as others. But i'd like to have good radar!

@dthmtlgod : yes it supports both fahrenheit and celcius, and will automatically choose the right one for your region when you first launch it. You can change it at any time though.

@vertigo235 : We have to pay for private servers, as well as for the weather data that we use. If we charged 99 cents we'd end up losing money. We don't want to be millionaires, but we think the app is worth more than 99 cents, especially with where we want to take it in the future. If you disagree then that's fine, vote with your dollars ;)

@ksmith80209 : Yes we know about the min min thing on the blue skin. Amazing how we didn't notice it. I guess you look at a screen a hundred times and you start to not see the details ;)

@TraceyS/FL Yes radar is coming to the next version.

@PBF : We may release some promo codes on the other section of the forum dedicated to that.

Thanks to all the people that have bought it and for your positive feedback! It's really cool to be able to make something that people like!

To summarise the main features for v1.1:
- Support for weather alerts, and push for those alerts
- Radar
- Other tweaks, fixes

Sounds perfect then!!! OK, i'm SURE i can come up with a wish list of features still :D

Thanks!

For the PUSH weather alerts, does it work only in the US? or worldwide?

It works for any location worldwide. The only restriction is that if the temp drops below 0 we have no way of pushing that out as a badge, because Apple doesn't support it. We've raised a change request with them, so who knows if they will allow it one day.

We've been trying to figure out a creative way to get around this, but have so far not come up with anything good. One idea was to put a '77' in front of the weather, so -5 would be '775' and -15 would be '7715' but that might just confuse people more. I guess you guys in the US are a bit luckier in that you have to get to -17c before it gets to 0.
