He prefaces his answers by stating:
Apple has indicated that it intends to add features through free software updates, so the real, secret answer to some of the “no” answers is actually, “Coming soon."

Answers to common questions:
- Speakerphone / Vibrate are weak
- One handed dialing? "Dialing the iPhone one-handed, though, is easy. As your fingers grasp the iPhone, your thumb is free to tap buttons, scroll lists and so on."
- No other company’s SIM card works in the iPhone.
- No voice memos, voice dialing or call recording
- Lacks video output to a TV
- No disk mode
- Can only use one of 25 preset ringtones
- iPhone can't be used as a wireless modem for your laptop
- Keyboard only rotates in landscape mode in Safari.

Enough of these critic reviews. They are all envious because they know that the iPhone is truly a revolutionary phone and they just try to make it look bad. They want one but can't get one.

The iPhone is going to be greater than the iPod in popularity, I am predicting.

Important FAQs Answered!

I got excited about the landscape keyboard.. but I think that a software upgrade will enable it for SMS, notes, etc.

It's actually good to hear that the vibrate is weak. I've woken up to my phone vibrating.

i dont get why apple doesn't put some of these features in.

they easily can make some of these features happen so why do they not put them in now and wait for software updates.

keyboard in landscape mode seems to be really good... i think safari only has it since if you hit the address bar up top while in landscape mode it would be weird if the keyboard came up the regular way..

Steve Jobs apparently loves Microsoft
Does the iPhone synchronize bookmarks with your computer? Yes: with Safari on the Mac, or Internet Explorer on Windows.

David Pogue is mostly a Apple xxx kisser, he is kindest to apple among all non-apple sponsored commentators.

Any bets on how long before Apple updates allow keyboard to be used in landscape mode for all applications?

My prediction 5 weeks!

Yeah, that really kills the desire for an iPhone inside of me. Not being able to use the iPhone as a wireless modem is kind of a big deal, and a few other issues brought up are disappointing.

Honestly, it's not the price of the phone holding me back, it's the monthly fee. I plenty of minutes, nights starting at 7, weekends, and unlimited texts for $35 a month - it will cost me almost $80 on iPhone.

I'm sold on the phone itself, the critics can't sway me now, but it's a huge investment for something I tend to throw around and drop just because of what it is.

The nice thing is that all of these can be changed in a software update, but the ring-tones and keyboard(landscape in safari only) are kind of a bummer.

The lack of 3G and the inability to use as a modem for my laptop are the only 2 things that will prevent me from buying one. Right now I get pretty good BT-DUN speeds from the EVDO network and will the iPhone's WIFI is great it sucks that almost everywhere in manhattan there is NO free wifi :(
Also why does the keyboard not work in landscape mode for anything else...I feel sorry for the acromegalics out there lol :)

I heard recently that Bill Gates actually owns a good amount of Apple stock - is that true? If so, no wonder he likes him...

Microsoft purchased a bunch of Apple stock in a partnership a few years ago but I believe they have since sold most of it.

I think they want you to just use the iPhone itself. However, I realize the limitations! :)

AHHHH, interesting, love to know more about it, where did u get the info?

Everything can be updated except for the vibrator, for that you know where you have to go

The video output will be amazing and is ready! remember Jobs doing the keynotes, he was using his iPhone and you could watch everything in real time on the big screen.

The thing is that people see so many posibilities already and I believe Apple will have to create andother building just to keep up with the updates.

The only problem I see from this first generation will be the lack of storage, it will run out sooo fast just in software updates.

The iPhone is the most powerful and flexible personal cumputer outhere. Imagine all the things a hacker can do now with it? you can create a software to catch any frequency. So many posibilities.

I would love to have one for my presentations for clients runing Keynote for sure. But I am in Venezuela and we may get it by January IF we are lucky.

Booooo...

- No other company’s SIM card works in the iPhone.

I was planing on coming to states to purchase this phone. But i can't even do that now because i can't use it unlocked with my carrier here with my SIM card. So this phone is locked to AT&T only even if you purchase online?

Nothing solid- heard it from a friend, but I haven't researched the truth. Interesting if he sold it since, though.

Still love the pictures of Jobs and Gates being interviewed, and I love their appearance on The Dating Game from X-many years ago
