Whats interesting is that Fantastical on my iOS13 iPhone can display more events than on my iOS14 iPad despite both still being OS13 "Today View" widgets. Probably has to do with there now being size restrictions to iOS14 widgets; on my iPad it displays 1 with a "View More" button that which launches the app. Be interesting to see what a native iOS14 version of the Fantastical widget will look like.

and on the ios 13 fantastical widget i can tap a date and see what is planned. if i tap on ios 14 on the fantastical widget just the app gets opened, which is lame.

Yes. However, you can still add it to the bottom of the column as an iOS13 Widget.

mine shows upcoming events for the day, an instantly-accessible overview of my calendar. if that's all i need in that moment, i don't need to open the app. if i do, clicking on it takes me in, and i can see more, edit...

seems fine, just for what it is..
