It does turn on in my front pocket if standing up from a sitting position. That's like 3 seconds of screen on-time times the number of sitting/standing motions a day while it's in my pocket. So if I average that motion (while it is in my pocket) say 100 times a day, that's only 300 seconds or 5 minutes wasted screen-on time a day. Hardly a noticeable hit on battery life, unless one it obsessed about battery life.

...simple solution to this is just to keep the phone in your pocket but upside down (charging port facing upwards). That way, the phone will not light up with any motion at all as it needs to be the right way up, for the 'Raise To Wake' feature to work.

;)

Raise to Wake is a cool feature, however I would prefer to have Double Tap to Wake instead.

An example: if I have my phone laying on the table I front of me, I have to either pickup the phone (Raise to Wake), press the home button, or press the power button. I would rather just tap the home screen twice to wake the screen. Much easier IMO instead of having to use one of the other 3 ways to wake the phone.

Another example is, while I was driving yesterday I had my phone sitting in the cup holder. Obviously I can't have my eyes on the phone all he time, so instead of having to use the 3 previously mentioned choices to wake the phone, a double tap on the screen would be he easiest way to check for notifications on the lock screen.

Again, this is just my opinion, but I feel DT2W would be a better feature than Raise to Wake.

It should have a night mode...

are you going to skip all iphones from here on out? i don't think the headphone jack is coming back to those in the future.

Im waiting to see how many times the lightning port lasts until it breaks... i quess we will see threads about broken ports on spring... but let see.. the problem here is that the lightning port is now used several times a day rather than occasionally to charge the phone. And when the port is broken, you cant charge either.

So, no im not going to update soon - and anyway waiting for the s model before even thinking about it.

I'm using it right now but do have mixed emotions. Getting more accustomed to it everyday. Agree with those that say it cuts off too quickly.

No I cant. With iPhone 6 I pressed the button to wake it. But pressing the 7 home button it is unlocked right away.

Do you have the rest finger to unlock option enabled? Because in iOS 10 it has been changed so that it would be harder to unlock it when you just wake it up by pressing the home button. Do you also have lift to wake enabled?

Yeah I know about this settings.
And I still saying it's was more comfortable for me with my iPhone 6 and the old iOS.

I guess I'm not following what the difference is in your case. If anything iOS 10 should be more friendly to being able to wake up the screen without unlocking the phone (which seems like what you are looking for).

I use it so I don't have to press the Home Button, I turn off that stupid Home Button change they did in the options so you can just use Touch Id to unlock. That way I don't have to use that button which on most iPhone's I've had, it fails first.....

Now if I could just go home without pressing that button, I wouldn't have to use it at all.

I tried it...I find it shuts off too quickly, and I don't like that there's not a way to calibrate it at all. It doesn't activate in a way that's natural for how I use my device, so I disabled it.

The short time-out on Raise to Wake will be fixed in the upcoming 10.1 iOS release. The screen will turn off when we put the phone back down; not when we're right in the middle of reading a message!

When I'm trying to see things in the dark, having a bright screen flash off and on and off and on right in my face is very counterproductive.

If you're in the dark, the screen shouldn't be bright when it comes on. It comes on for me when I'm using the flashlight, but it's at the lowest brightness (since it's completely dark on that side of the phone) so it doesn't bother me at all.

It's actually convenient to be able to tilt the screen up a bit, then swipe up and turn off the flashlight, rather than having to hit buttons to turn it off.

Quite a handy feature overall. Lift up my phone or flip it over face up, the screen comes on. Rest my finger on Touch-ID, and my phone is unlocked. This means I don't have to press any buttons at all.

The idea is good, Apple's execution sucks. It's rather baffling that they push out such a disjointed feature. With a highly skilled team Apple is capable of much better. There's simply no excuse for their sloppy work.

And the actual details of what "sucks" about the execution, or what is "disjointed" about the feature, or what is "sloppy" about the work? Buzzwords on their own don't really say anything.
