In my opinion, a Mac Tablet would be great.
I already own a Gateway tablet PC. It's tablet functions work great. However, I would really think about it if you consider buying one if the Mac Tablet comes out. I actually haven't used the tablet functions as much as I thought I would be using.
Plus, I hope it is not small. My notebook is a good size about a 13 inch.

I'm always interested in the latest cool things :apple: puts out. But that doesn't mean I'm going to buy them. I have two iPhones and couldn't wait to get them when they came out. It really serves a need for me. On the other hand, while the MacBook Air was very interesting to me, I couldn't afford another laptop that really would only serve a niche for me (in other words, I couldn't ditch my MBP entirely for a MBA).

I think a Mac-made tablet would be really great, but I don't know if I would have enough of a need for one to buy one right away. Others will, of course.

Not interested enough to get one, yet. Bet they'll be sweet but Apple have no need to rush in to tablets. They were pretty late to the mobile phone party and look what happened.

I'd love to play with one of these - if they ever exist! A touch screen would be great, after using my Nintendo DS I've just fallen in love with the ability to control via touch.

My existing phone seems archaic next to the iphone with its touch screen. I reckon with more people having wireless home networks there is an opportunity. I suppose most people would use a laptop for this purpose but I'd personally have a tablet.

Yes, interested and would buy one depending on features & price. I prefer to write not type or tap-tap on like the iphone, so a pen or stylus would be a big deal to me. It would be great to read e-books on if thin and light. If I could use Painter or a similar program on it I'd definitely buy as long as it wasn't 3K+!

Will this arrive anytime soon? I kind of doubt it. But maybe in the next 2-3 years as mobile market gets more competitive.

I voted yes. If it was small enough to put in one of my many totebags/purse I would be all over it. I love my iphone but I would rather have something portable that was just a little bit bigger. But then with bigger you have extra weight as in a bigger bigger battery. Oh well I would have to look at one and hold it. ;)

Yes if its 12/13 inch with complete touch screen (with a nice stylus).

I think Tablets less than 12" are a waste of time - They should be big enough for a page of text at least.

no not really

i think osx isnt really made for a tablet. (niether is xp, or vista by the way) if you really want a mac tablet or something of that sort, just get Axitron's modbook but, as said before, it is somewhat expensive. an iphone, or an ipod touch could really just be enough

Maybe. I love how the iPhone/iPod Touch works but I'd probably rather buy a standard Mac laptop if given the choice of a tablet Mac.

Yes

of course! who isnt? Would anyone honestly say "no" I do not want to see apple expand their market by creating a new product that will entice more people?

I would definitely be interested if I wasn't a semester away from graduating college. Would have saved me quite a few stressful nights looking for lost notes at the end of the semester.

Tng Padd

something like the PADDs in TNG, maybe a 6" or so would be nice.

but with the screen covering the entire surface. I needs to be really thin, otherwise it will be awkward. This sort of design is similar to the iPod nano with a full screen and larger in all dimensions expect thickness.

I don't like the idea of a stylus. A UI build with a stylus in mind tends to be a bad one, with tiny features you need to carefully interact with them. The iPhone doesn't have a stylus and has the best UI out there.

I agree with you somewhat. Tablets really need their own dedicated user interface. I don't think Apple will make a tablet, but were they to, it should sport a more specialized tablet-friendly UI, and not Aqua, because Aqua is a very point-and-click-friendly UI, but not one I want to touch. I don't want iPhone OS - which is built for a small screen. Some sort of hybrid, I guess. That won't happen, of course, because it would mean everyone would have to repackage their applications to run with this modified UI.

If Apple does release a tablet, I expect something along the lines of the MacBook Air, an absolutely beautiful product but too expensive and compromising too much to be worth it (in my opinion, at least. I would rather have a MacBook Pro than a MacBook Air with $200 left over. I realize that the MBA is very popular, and the people I know who have one love it so, but personally I don't get it). The people who would be interested in it would be deterred by its mediocre specs, and its lack of upgradeability. It would be less than an inch thick, but with everything soldered on, it would likely have little appeal and be pulled relatively quickly.

As for the Modbook, sure it's cool, but I honestly find it ugly. The silver and white kind of clash. An Apple product would likely be much more well integrated, but unless they provided a Mac touch pro, with a large screen, and actual decent hardware, I'm not interested.

Why not!!!

:rolleyes:I don't see why I wouldn't be interested. the question is, Would I buy it? And, to tell you the truth, I'm not sure. Cm'n, I have a MacBook Pro, and an iPhone, do I need anything else? I don' t think so.

Who isn't!!! :) I will definitely buy one if its less than a thousand dollars!! By the way I AM INTERESTED! :apple:
What if Apple prices it at $999.99, so that, after tax is added it will be over $1000? Would you still be interested?

I must admit, though - a tablet Mac really isn't for me.

Yes. But... it must integrate with a keyboard and more. I'd like the screen of my PowerBook (MacBook to you newbies) to be removable so it is easier to read away from the desk.

It all depends!

Of course I'm interested if your idea of a tablet matches up with mine. The whole problem with tablet discussions is the wildly varying perceptions of what a good tablet would be like.

In any event a MBP and an iPhone in one year is a bit much.

Dave

A tablet that would be focused towards creating art would get me very interested. Other then that, not really :/

Not from Apple. Maybe from someone who prides durability over pretty... But not Apple. I don't want something else I'd have to protect and baby.
