Yet you are here chatting about Macs. And whining that you want a Mac, but they don't offer what you want. Whats the point? Do you really think whining about it here is going to make Apple offer it?
I don't see anyone whining here. We just would like a headless Mac because we like the OS, but feel there is a gap in the line up. Judging by the complaints we do hear, apparently we aren't alone. I'm sure Apple knows what they're doing most of the time, but they aren't perfect, and all we can do is talk about the possibilities and hope they're working on something that will better suit our needs. And the desires of a majority of the PC world. No one has any unreasonable expectation about Mac Pros at mini prices, and it has been said time and again what is wrong with the iMac. No one is boycotting Apple. We like Apple, we want to want to buy something from them. If we wanted to buy PCs, we would. We don't want to.

I still don't see why all the hate. This is a rumor site. We discussing possible rumors of a machine we hope Apple comes out with. If you don't care about a headless Mac... why did you bother clicking on the thread?

I feel your pain on the lack of expandability but do you realize that the upper end iMac can get 3Gb of Ram now? Hopefully it will be 4Gb with the next model. Also, you can get a 500Gb hard drive as well. How much internal storage do you really need if you aren't a pro?
I agree that the chin is not attractive on the iMac but I can look past that. Keeping the 20 or 23" display could be nice, but then again, selling the iMac and getting 3/4 of what you payed for it a couple of years later is nice too. What other desktop PC can say that?

3GB in an iMac is currently (and unlikely to change) cost prohibitive, due to the very high cost of 2GB modules of PC-5300 SODIMM RAM.

In what universe is an Intel iMac going to depreciate 25% over two or three years?

As of right now, you can buy a refurbed, warrantied Core Duo 20" iMac for $1199 - meaning that you're probably not going to clear $1050-1100 on Ebay and probably less. That's a depreciation of of 33-40% in nine months.

The upside of the Intel switch: speedy progression through chips.
The downside of the Intel switch: the days of slow depreciation are over.
