there has been a lot of talk of people buying the new 12.9 PRO and then going back to the 11, and vice versa, lets get some data so we can all share the numbers on this!

The 12.9” is a more capable device in my opinion - especially as a primary device. I can understand preferring the 11” as a secondary device.

As the iPad Pro is my primary device, the 12.9” offers me better productivity due to the larger screen real estate. You also get more of a wow factor using the bigger XDR display.

Picked up the iPP 12.9 (hopeful I’ll not need a laptop) and I plan on keeping it. WWDC may but will more than likely not change my mind (MPB announcements and whatnot - I don’t need a MBP but I’m a fan of them and I have been longing for the 14” screen). Even if I do decide to shell out for a MBP down the line I think this will serve me well before I need to actually pull the trigger.

I liked the Touchbar (please don’t throw garbage at me) and now that they’re getting rid of it, the redesign may not be for me after all. Heck, maybe I’ll get an Air once they get the updated screens. Who knows!? But for now I think I will love owning my first iPad.

It’s not a question of if, it’s how long can you resist not buying one after they announce that sexy redesign at WWDC ???

I have the 11”. Very pleased with it and the size is perfect for my use. MBP 13 i7 takes care of my laptop use.
I can see the 12.9 size for artists, photogs and others who may need to be mobile for clientele but, like you, I find the 11" fills the right size niche between the phone and the Mac. 12.9 is just too close to the Mac, unless the aforementioned applies, or you plan to use the iPad as your main device etc.

Although I’m going with the 11 and MBA combo for a new setup, I can’t stop thinking about keeping the 12.9. That’s screen is just gorgeous! I might just keep both!
Yeah no kidding! My issue is work work travel I have to carry a 14” and always bring an iPad which I feel 11”
Would be better ….

Yeah, I'm kinda in the same boat recently. My 2020 12.9 served as my only device for work and leisure over the past year but I now need a full OS for work, so the 11 makes sense with the MBA. I do like the portability of the 11 and still struggle to use the 12.9 as tablet. I have until tomorrow to initiate a return.

Yeah makes sense! If you initiate a return I noticed it says must send by monday? That seems rather quick, I remember it used to be longer lead time?

Updated from the 2018 12.9 to the 2021 12.9 and still loving the large display, even more so now. Size and weight of the 12.9 have not been an issue for me. It is not my main computing device.

I sold my 12.9” pretty fast, too big and too heavy for my liking. And for some odd reason I even liked watching movies better on the smaller screen.

I called Apple today and asked how returns are handled given the lockdown and retail still closed where I am. They will arrange a courier to pick up the item, takes around 3-5 days. I must initiate latest by 7th June, I've got some time and can still wait for what is announced at WWDC before really deciding to keep or return. ?

Do you get proof that the courier has taken your device? In case something goes wrong.

I've not done a return this way before but I'd certainly will request proof from the courier the device was taken in good order. I'll confirm with Apple when I initiate the return.

Good idea, do you need to pack it in a box, print a return label, or write anything? I‘m stuck in lockdown as well, need to return a accessory, miss the walk into apple, return it in 1 min and away you go.

I'll update when the return has happened.
