I have the 12.9 and still in two minds..

One thing I noticed, is when I'm lying in bed and rest the iPad on my chest, after a certain amount of time I then have to move or lift it. It does get slightly annoying, and never ever had that issue with the 11".... plenty of times fallen asleep, and the 11" has dunked off my forehead, woke me up, and I'm then clinging from the roof !!

I don't lie with it so much when home, but do when away Offshore, probably lie for about an our before switching the light off, and it does get uncomfortable after about 20min.

Third world problems, I know :p

Good idea, do you need to pack it in a box, print a return label, or write anything? I‘m stuck in lockdown as well, need to return a accessory, miss the walk into apple, return it in 1 min and away you go.
Lockdown? Where do you live??

Why’s is that? Increase trend in 12.9 return?

Or the opposite if Apple announces something that makes the iPad much more useful.

I think a lot of people bought on hope, and just as many will buy (or not) afterwards based on the announcement.

I’m keeping it. I was concerned that the 12.9 would be ungainly large but that simply is not the case.

A full size keyboard / trackpad on a 12.9 iPad Pro is like having a 13" MacBook that has a touchscreen that you can also draw on. Hopefully the limiting effect of iPadOS will be reduced significantly with iPadOS 15.

I normally go to a UPS or FedEx store so I can get a receipt when I return stuff.
I once went to a mom and pop shop who didn’t provide one and had a near heart attack when I didn’t see movement on my shipment. This is when I was returning the M1 MacBook Pro in December last year. I was mortified but then I realized that I had printed and generated more than one shipping label and I was tracking the wrong one.

Learned from that lesson I will always get a receipt and if that means I have to go to a proper UPS store, then I will. Going to Apple directly is probably the easiest way so that you don’t have to wait for your item to get to Apple. Obviously, during this pandemic that’s not always an option for folks.

Having come from a 2013 Surface Pro 2 with a 10.6” 1080 x 1920 16:9 display the 11” 2021 iPad Pro feels familiar yet modernized and perfect for my “primary device” (or perhaps technically secondary, since you know we’re pretty much all glued to our smartphones on a daily basis) use case.

I actually went back and forth between 11” and XDR 12.9” several times (even gave an Air 4 a try just to see) and although that more newfangled, larger ‘Pad with its sexy contrast did admittedly grow on me I just couldn’t stomach it as a tablet…too awkward to use in too many situations. And again after using a smaller, more compact, more minimalistic device for many years this feels more like “home”; even more so in many ways because it is running (a variation of) what is probably my all-time favorite operating system, iOS.

I’m keeping my iPad. I was in apple store snd they told me the blooming is normal, I disagree. They did a hard reset on my iPad. Can’t see problems in a brightly lit store lol. However they asked me to wait a month for them to work on and iron out bugs. Apparently the blooming is software related. I remember seeing big bloom on original 14.5 OS, then when I updated to 14.5.1 it was much less blooming. Then the blooming came back again with 14.6. I will give them 1 month to work out the bugs, then if I still have issue they will send me a replacement right away. Thankfully I have apple care +.

I honestly don't know how AC+ is going to help with a phenomenon that's intrinsic to the display technology. Chances are whatever replacement they send will have similar blooming and any fixes/tweaks will have to done via firmware updates.

Agree, @Chazani if you’re bothered by it that much, ask them for a one month extension on your return date.

Doubt they’ll let you use apple care plus for this.

Looks like we are in the same region! Returns will have to be via TNT collection until the stores can open again.
I’m calling apple tomorrow for a extension ?

Can’t be bothered getting a box, waiting for a return sticker and driving to a drop off point. ??‍♂️

Wonder what my chances are for getting a extension. ? never had a issue with apple in store or over the phone customer service.

Anyone know if they send you a email for proof if they approve the extension?

What I meant was that Apple arrange for the courier to come to your home and collect the item, they will bring all the boxes, labels etc.

Really ? sounds awesome ?

Do we get proof that the courier has taken our items? In case something goes wrong.

How will I give the courier a receipt, since I don’t have a printer????

This is what I was told by the Apple employee in Calgary. They said in a month if issues wasn’t fixed, I can call Apple service and they will send a new device immediately.. I was also told to wait a month or so for those updates. It’s in their files now that blooming is happening on some devices and so hopefully Apple will do something about it.

I am not initiating a return at all. They mentioned the fact that I have Apple care plus, that if the issue isn’t solved in a month then I can call Apple service and I’ll get express replacement.. I love the iPad and the clarity of the screen.

I will be hoping that some blooming will be fixed via updates in the near future. They didn’t even take my iPad to the back, just went to talk to another who said his device blooms too and it’s normal.

In the meantime I shall just enjoy the iPad to the fullest, and make sure I use light mode during the evening since that’s when it occurs. I did say I was going to Apple store to see if they can check if it’s normal or not. :)
