8. Christchurch Art Museum, and a bunch of other "landmarks" near Christchurch. *snickers* :p

Bunch of very tall rocks (although they look small here):

From the region of WhereIsThis and IHaveNoIdea:

"Lake IHaveNoIdea" appears to be Lake Tekapo, the bluest lake in NZ (fed by melting glaciers). "WhereIsThis" appears to be the Canterbury Plains. The rocks look like the 'Castle Rocks', popular with local rockclimbers and boulderers.

So here's the Jet d'Eau on a cloudy day last weekend in Geneva, along with a picture from the Palais des Papes in Avignon; this was when the papacy moved to France during the 1300s. Quite a cool building.
How bizarre! I was in the same place in Geneva on the same weekend, and was in Avignon the week before. Are we stalking each other? :)

Konstanz....now that looks like a place *I* should visit!

should?

I thought you were the model for the "Imperia" statue that's in the harbor there!:p :p :p

See Google Images here, since I don't have any of my own to offer.

The statue is modern, and is an interesting story. It was inspired by historical events of the 1414-1418 Council of Constance , which ended a scism in the Catholic Church (3 Popes!), as well as got rid of a pre-Luthur reformist by telling him that he was safe, but then burned him at the stake for being a heritic. In any event, the Council was a big political event, and legend has it that there was a certain "woman of influence" that did some political (cough) facilitating. The statue was initially very controversial, since in addition to her appearance, she has a king in the palm of her one hand, and a pope in the palm of other (the King is happy, the Pope miserable), and there was talk of it being removed as shameful, etc ... that is, until another local town offered to host the statue: then Constance said that it was their's and that no one could take it away from them. Go figure :)

For amature photographers, be aware that the Imperia rotates on its base, so you can get any profile you want by just waiting a bit.

I know exactly where you were...our hotel was on the other side of that canal in the first two photo's.

And here's another shot taken in that same park...its one of the classic cars running in the Liege-Rome-Liege road rally who was using the Biergarden here as a checkpoint & lunchbreak. The Zeppelin statue is visible in the background...

Did you take the ferry through the lake to Switzerland? Many friends told me
it is awesome. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take it cause we had already
missed the first one and the second one was going to be too late for us to
catch a train back.

I am currently studying in Germany and live around 2 hrs (by train) far from
konstanz. Hopefully I will still be here till the summer and pay it another visit
(and take the ferry this time :)).

Thanks, hh, for the history lesson! Yeah, it took quite a while posing for that sculpture! :D And thank you, Compile 'em all, for the wonderful photos! Yessirree, I've GOT to take a trip there one of these days. It looks absolutely gorgeous and how could I resist being in a place which bears my name?!

No, but we did take a car ferry across from Mainau to Meersburg (Uberlinger See
part of the Bodensee), with a nice sunset on the return:

Also try to find the time to get north up to the classical section of the Rhine.
In the Rick Steve's guidebook, he recommends the small town of Bacharach,
and I've stayed at "Pension Lettie" a couple of times...a single room here is
under EU40, including breakfast.

I am actually studying at Hamburg University of Technology and lived in
Hamburg for almost one year so I pretty much got the northen region
covered. But I am now doing my Master thesis in a company which happens
to be in the south. I have travelled a great deal in Germany but yet have to
visit more cities...specially in the köln-Bonn-Düssldorf region.

Thanks for the advice nonetheless, Germany is an awesome country and has
got tons of must-see sites.

It looks like it, since we were probably standing next to each other on the Pont d'Avignon: (I like your picture better, BTW)

Is it time to remove my location from my profile?

Perhaps Yellowstone National Park? Or possibly Turkey or even Peru. The terraces in New Zealand were pink, but were destroyed by a volcano so it's obviously not there :)

I'd say its not Yellowstone, since they've not allowed swimmers at Mammoth Hot Springs for at least 30 years (if ever)...and we didn't have photo cellphones back then :)

A famous garden

Okay,

"NO PEEKING AT THE FILENAME ALLOWED"

....BTW, "cheaters" have to specify what day of the week this photo was taken! :)

(and yes, there really is a clue in the above photo that lets you -almost- determine the day!!)
